Remove from this thread. I posted it under Q&A. Oops. I received this "notice" 3/1/13 for the first time. I had downloaded and installed the files from Lunatics back in January. Do I need to re-download these files again and install? or is there something else I need to do? http://www.usefulramblings.org |

Do you mean January 2012, or January 2013? Astropulse_v6 was introduced in March 2012. So, if you downloaded the Lunatics files in January 2012, AP_v6 would not have been supported. There was a new Lunatics installer released in March 2012, with full AP_v6 support. The version number was 0.40, so you could check if you downloaded it then and mis-remembered the dates. If you still have that file, you could re-run it. Unfortunately, licensing problems which came to light later in 2012 mean that the 0.40 installer had to be withdrawn and it is no longer available - it would not have been possible for you to (legally) download an installer in January 2013. Sorry about that, but until we get legal clearance, there is no prospect of an installer being made available. On the other hand, the message is nothing to worry about. You appear to have been running SETI without being able to run Astropulse for almost a year now: you can continue just doing that. |

Oh, dear, forget I wrote all that. Sorry. I made the classic mistake of assuming that all users run Windows, unless they specifically state that they're using something else. I checked after posting, and found you run Linux 3.7.3-101.fc17.x86_64 - so please accept my apologies. I'll go and have my lie-down now. Nurse, the screens, please. |

Its really my fault. I was not clear with respect to my setup (OS, etc.). http://www.usefulramblings.org |

Just to clear on what that msg actually means as far as the server is concerned: Server tried to send you AP work (v6) but your app_info.xml doesn't have an entry for that, so you can't process AP tasks. the user friendly version of that msg would be: You are set to receive AP tasks, so I wanted to give you some. Unfortunately I found your app_info.xml lacks the appropriate entry for AP tasks and I couldn't send them. From the user perspective: If there is an AP app available and you installed it, then there's something wrong with the app_info.xml entry for it. You need to doublecheck it. If there is an app available and you want to run it, you need to install it and add the appropriate bits to app_info.xml. If there is one available but you don't want to run it - either live with the occasional msg or disable AP on the website. If there is no app - ignore msg or disable AP. Basically it's a message that can be safely ignored unless you are really trying to run the type of task the complaint is about. A person who won't read has no advantage over one who can't read. When I started processing for SETI I went to the Lunatics website and downloaded their files to support GPU processing. "Their files" contained a app_info.xml file so I was under the impression that processing for AstroPulse was included. I have never received a notice until now but I also noticed that I was not processing AstroPulse jobs. What is required to support AstroPulse? I can modify the projects attributes on the website to exclude AstroPulse if necessary but there seems to be "hidden" procedures to support this effort in a complete manner. http://www.usefulramblings.org |

Sometimes I get that message on machines that are not configured for AP & are in a venue with the setting 'AstroPulse v6: no'. Just one of those weird interactions on the server side I guess. On my machines where I want to run AP tasks I set my project preferences like this: Run only the selected applications SETI@home Enhanced: no Astropulse v505: no SETI@home v7: no AstroPulse v6: yes If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications? yes Even with those settings they normally struggle to get any AP work. However, at the moment it looks like those machines are full up with 100 AP tasks. Whenever and wherever you download a manual application for processing tasks under boinc, you're likely to get a whole bundle of stuff:
If you download a single application, it's likely that the included app_info.xml file will support that application only. </app_info> <app_info> where the two files join - hide the seam, as it were, so that BOINC doesn't encounter a premature end marker in the joined file. |

Richard, Thanks. That clarifies. I was under the impression that "all" features were supported. Now I know. http://www.usefulramblings.org |

I have long avoided the AP applications but when I recently installed "Lunatics_x41zc_win32_cuda50" I decided to go ahead and give it a try. There are AP entries in the app_info file but to date I have not received ant AP Task. Ap is enabled in my default settings. Below is The AP section of the app_info. I gather inclusion of the v505 is wrong but v6 is present. Are there any other problems I should look for? Go back and double check that Astropulse_v6 is enabled in your preferences, the Astropulse switch was removed a long time ago, and the Astropulse_v5 switch after that, and since there is no Astropulse_v505 work the Astropulse_v505 switch won't do anything, Claggy |

Only setienhanced and astropulse v505 was checked. I turned off v505 and set v6. now to wait and see if work comes in. Thanks! Delta-V |
