Uhhh, I have not had any of the problems posted in this and at least 1 other thread. By the way, what does 12/04/04 - 10:48:00 UTC translate into for California (Pacific Standard Time)? I looked through my messages back through yesterday 12/3 and found no problems. Are you people sure that there is a problem with the server(s)? I have had no 0 CPU time returns, yesterday or today. California is in PST which is -8 time zone. This means you are 8 hours after UTC, so 10:48am on December 4, 2004, would be 02:48am on December 4, 2004 in California. Or, to convert UTC to PST, just subtract 8 (that's why it's a -8 time zone) C Join Team MacNN |

You would think that, if they were going to use the UTC time, they would give us some basic info somewhere here for figuring what that time is in our part of the universe. Since you're running windows, if you really don't know there your time-zone is relative to GMT, the easiest is to click on the windows-clock and see what time-zone you're in... |

If you want a good source of info, try the US Naval Observatory at http://www.usno.navy.mil/. Search for "time zone map", or just use this direct link: http://aa.usno.navy.mil/faq/docs/world_tzones.html C Join Team MacNN |

<quote> Alpha Clock is an tiny clock utility with miniature, but very nice LCD-style watch display. You can choose any colors for display background and digits, or use any predefined color scheme. On Windows 2000 or Windows XP also possibly to set the transparency for watch display. Alpha Clock can display your local time or UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). </quote> <br /> Alpha Clock get it from here <br /> |

I believe I know what time zone I happen to live in. Extracted from my original post: By the way, what does 12/04/04 - 10:48:00 UTC translate into for California (Pacific Standard Time)? A person would have to be a real "Homer" to not know what time zone they're in. "Quick, give me the number for 911!" L8R.... --- CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? I'll try that. Thanks for the tip. :-) L8R.... --- CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. I have the Alpha Clock displaying UTC time and I can just look at the clock on the taskbar for my "real" time. [EDIT:] Ok, what's going on here? The Alpha Clock UTC does not match what the UTC time stamp on this post is. Oh, wait a minute. SETI is using 24 hour time, right? Answered my own query. I have the Alpha Clock displaying UTC time and I can just look at the clock on the taskbar for my "real" time. ========== True Siran, but I don't run the Taskbar Clock so it's a way of having both times with the same type of clock. Aclually you don't need to make another folder either, you can just start 1 instance & then click for another instance or as many as you want I guess... |

I have the Alpha Clock auto start when the PC boots. Used to have to re-boot every couple days because of my dial-up, but not any more. I just canceled it and have high speed now. Anyway, what is your reason for not having the clock on the taskbar? Maybe I will change if your reason is good. The one thing I don't like about the Alpha Clock is that the UTC display won't go into 24 hour mode, bummer. L8R.... --- CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? > Try right click on it and check military format > I've done that and all it does is gets rid of the "a" or "p" for am and pm. Funny thing though, I just noticed that it now matches SETI post time stamp. This morning it didn't. Thanks.... L8R.... --- CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? Anyway, what is your reason for not having the clock on the taskbar? Maybe I will change if your reason is good. =========== No reason in particular Siran for not running the Taskbar clock, although I've always had the feeling it has to use some resources to run even if it is just minuscule. Besides I have a big wall clock in my computer room so theres no need for me to run the taskbar clock... |
