Too small - not a plate.

Same general idea as a pizza stone?

A pizza stone is to bake pizzas on?

Sorry, I don't know what general idea you ae referenig to.

Pizza snobs like to preheat a smooth slab of stone (such as granite) in the oven and place the pizza on it to bake. Something to do with the texture of the crust.

I would not consider myself a snob but yes it does have everything to do with texture. There are nine gajillion variants of pizza and this is just one of them. In France pizza comes with an egg in the middle on request. Turns out I liked it but I will not do it at home. LOL!

Sorry, rarly onlien at weekends.

This tool would have come in handy for large families or families with small children and then probably seen use in the mornings and at bedtime.
You only need one.

Now that was a lucky guess! We used to have a glass one in the 70's at home, but very few people boil milk in a pan any more..

I'll get back.

same reason chemists use 'boiling chips' - you provide a large measure of additional surface for small bubbles of steam to form continously instead of big bubbles in bursts.
