@N9JFE - be my guest, I really really want to wind this one up and move on.

Okay.

A dessert version of this item is sold at Taco Bell.

It's yummy ;)

It sure looks yummy, but that may be a bit too much sugar for me now.

Try Portuguese foods girls ...

I like the portuguese harder sausage, great with pizza or with eggs for breakfast. :O It can be a wake up call for those who have a weaker tummy.

Wait a minute here...

Earlier, someone posted the correct answer after I posted my Taco Bell hint. Now it's not there. What happened?

Discussion belongs in the Discussion Thread but several posts after yours have the edited flag set so it is possible the OP removed the answer, intentionally.

Not sure I deserve this, but to save Chris sinking further into the mire, here's an item that lives in my kitchen. I'm not sure how old it is, or that it has been used in a kitchen, but I know it was old when I was knee high to a grasshopper.

Thanks mate :-)

Is there a hole down the length of it?

The inside is hollow but there is no opening at the left hand end.

One always opens the red wine before bringing it to the table, which these days probably means in the kitchen....

Unlike WinterKnight, who hoped for a quick picture turn around, I happen to take a perverse delight in attempting to stump you all!!!

Clearly this is a serving utensil, but for what?

Hmm, now is it for a hot or cold food?

Let's go cold and see where we get to - Ice cream slice server

Although, I suppose one COULD use this utensil for serving most anything, it's specific design is:

not for serving waffles,

not for serving ice cream slices,

not for serving cake slices,

not for serving toast,

and not for serving petit fours. (Insert gloating smile here!)

This tool is a fussy little thing and in my defense, I did not purchase it myself. It was a gift from an elderly auntie who is a little more formal than your average bear.

I only use this tool if we have company and I have plattered the food it is designed to serve. For everyday occasions, when it is just me, Ol' Pookers and our spoiled cats (some of whom, over the years, have surprisingly been quite fond of the food in question), I just use a simple set of kitchen tongs to plop the intended food onto all of our plates.

I know, I know... I'm such a barbarian!!!
