Sorry I do not understand.

Why was Carlos's "Mystery Kitchen TOOL TWO" thread locked?

Did Carlos request it closed?

What happened?

Rob the Mod said why:

"With a winner declared, and a new thread coming along I will lock this one."

Just keeps the forum tidy. No harm. Winner will start a new thread in good time.

If you look a few post further up the thread you will see that there was a request to lock when the winner was declared.

A bit of guidance here - it has become a trend to start a new "guess the picture" type thread when there are about 400-600 posts in the old one - it just makes it a little easier to see what's going on and keeps the game fresh.

(Now for the pedants among you - I don't consider j mercer's question as even approaching discussing a mod's action, but merely someone asking for a bit of guidance and help.)
