Hello,

I just managed to migrate one of my computers from Windows XP 32bit to Windows 8 Pro, while keeping all statistics.

I also upgraded the Boinc Client SW from 6.10.60 to 7.0.44, Lunatcis GPU client from 38g to 41xc in one row.

So it seems doable without getting multiple clients.

The computer name stayed the same. I wonder if I change the first character of the host name from lower case to upper case. Will Boinc still recognize it as the same host?

Yes, the Boinc installation is still the same. You can rename the computer anything you like, and there will be no change other than the name at Seti.
And, you're the only one that can see the name anyway.

We even used to have a bit of fun editing the CPU type in Windows. From time to time folks would get a laugh out of one of my hosts sporting a Brambleweenie 2000 processor.
