I was curious on the power that is consumed from a computer that is left idle, not on standby or suspended, but not running anything. I know all computers are different but is there a ballpark range?

Not as much as I would have guessed. I know the GPU's always say they require a high PSU (500w+ on a lot) so I figured that is close to what they would be pulling.

I know the GPU's always say they require a high PSU (500w+ on a lot) so I figured that is close to what they would be pulling. That is the needed PSU for the whole system (they estimate the consumption for CPU+MB+HDD+DVD+fans+... for 'a typical' system and add their GPU wattage to end with recommendation for 'you need at least 500 W PSU') You may find some reviews/tests which measured the difference idle/load for your GPU http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Islands_(GPU_family)#Radeon_HD_6800 HD 6850 - maximum power draw of 127 W HD 6870 - maximum power draw of 151 W And I found "The Truth About Graphics Power Requirements V2, See how many watts you really need" (there are big charts): http://forums.atomicmpc.com.au/index.php?showtopic=264 Under the 4 charts there is "List of URLs used for each card" (to reviews/tests on many sites) ____________ - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :)

My main machine is connected to a UPS that shows the watts it's outputting. My monitor, PC, router, and modem are all connected so all I can get is a baseline of the computer with S@H not running.
