I want China and the US to be on the same page, and that can only happen through dialog. Is this your first response to him? (The one with the currently hooded figure avatar?) |

I'm probably going to get blasted for this in one way or another but...... It will take a bigger international threat than lil' ole N. Korea to bring all nations under one government. The only problem is that threat would have to be from an entity outside our planet and if and when that threat appears we are all toast. Bob DeWoody My motto: Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow as it may not be required. This no longer applies in light of current events. |

The BBC were quite wrong to "use" the LSE in that way and possibly put innocent students at risk, and quite rightly should be publicly rebuked, and if necessary fined. But the resulting programme is still valid nevertheless, and given the current tensions in the Korean peninsular, it should be aired. |

All sounds like some extremely junior level paper pusher said okay and the bosses didn't find out until later. ![]() ![]() |

I could yet be proved wrong, but I believe that Kim has played the game better than daddy ever did. Kim has managed to scare the crap out of the entire world. Think about it. How many millions if not billions of dollars have the allies spent scrambling to defend all of southeast Asia from a nuclear attack? All he had to do was shoot his mouth off while holding a birthday party for his grandfather. Hell, he even held a marathon race. Not too shabby for the rookie. Now, the big question is whether the kid is smart enough to see that enough is enough. ![]() Join the PACK! |

That's a very dangerous game to play. Play it too much & the "Big Boys" will soon get fed up of any & all "tinpot" nations holding the world to ransom & someone's finger will slip.... |

Now, the big question is whether the kid is smart enough to see that enough is enough. Good question. If he really intends to launch this damn missile, test or whatever, it is likely to be today. His people have been led to expect it, I wonder how he will get around it if he doesn't do it. It's 5pm in NK, still time yet. |

Well, at least as of this writing, it seems that NK decided against launching a missile for their big shindig, thankfully. My body may be here, but my mind is in a galaxy far, far away. Have made friends here. Most were cats. ![]() |

Apparently protesters in South Korea's capital, Seoul, burned portraits of Kim Jong-un, his father Kim Jong-il, and grandfather Kim Il-sung on Monday in the streets. So the NK response was not unexpected. |

The North Korean threats are now history, Don't be tempted to jump to hasty conclusions. Jim Mahjong couldn't have gone any further without actually firing the damn rocket, and as it is believed to be untested it could have been a spectacular public failure, or a costly mistake if it malfunctioned and crashed in Japan. It was simple brinkmanship of the highest order, but clearly neither Japan or the USA were prepared to be complacent about it. Don't want much do they..... In any negotiations you always initially ask for more than you hope to get, it's no different to buying and selling a car. Many years ago I went on a management Negotiating Skills training course and we were taught to have 3 levels in our back pockets before any talks.
2. What we realistically expect to get 3. Our bottom line if really pushed. Those principles probably still hold true today, just depends how quickly they want a settlement. Jim has to be seen to be the big man to his people to shore up his standing as a young and untested leader, so of course he will initially demand the earth. |
