I have set up 40 or more machines for more than 10 years. I've never encountered this problem nor be unable to solve one. I've setup several versions of BOINC from 6.10.58 to the latest 7.0.28 both 32 and 64 bit versions. I have a new 8 core machine and these are the errors I'm getting when trying to setup this machine.

It tries to download all the work units for Seti@home and immediately fails when starting to crunch them. I've set up BOINC in a new directory (BOINC2). I always set BOINC up to allow all users to control BOINC.

The 98 Tasks reported all show download failed.. but not until it retrieves them and tries to compute them.. Everyday it grabs 30 or so new ones and immediately fails on all... All of my other machines work fine..

It is quite likely that his ISP recompresses image files to save space. Just turn off image verification, and you are done.
