Does the server handling downloads of the Astropulse 8 MB
.wu input files have a problem? I've found that, in order
to finish downloading one in less than 5 or 6 days, I have
to manually request retries on it many times. The download
speed is typically below 5 KBps, except below 10 KBps late
at night.

Uploads of output files from other BOINC projects go much
faster, even if a transatlantic connection is needed.

Don´t know if that answer your question, but the normal MB WU have the size of about 360kB a AP have 8 MB, about 22 times grater. With the actual conection problem in some cases is almost impossible to DL a AP WU. At least that happens at my side of the world even with a retry´s cmd takes about an hour or more to DL a single AP WU.

I crunch only astropulses and have found the download speeds to be anywhere from a whopping 150KBPS to a dismal 0.1 KBPS. I've found they do eventually get through even if it does take an hour or two :)

Perhaps it's network config problem, not "AP server" problem.
On my host I see good speed (10k is good these times) right after hitting retry button. But in a few seconds speed decreases to 1-2kb. It stays there for some time then connection breaks and retry needed again.
Adding BOINC client fallbacks of 5 hours and mean processing time for AP task on my host of less than hour it makes absolutely impossible to keep host busy w/o auto-retry script.

My machine need average 2 - 3 hours for to DL an AP WU (pure DL time).

~ one day, up to 40 or more retries are needed for to finish the AP WU DL.

Try using a US based proxy.. you should get them downloading pretty quick then. seems like something is throttling coming out of the US as without using ones - endless backoffs and slow <1k/s with a US proxy >10k/s

Here in the UK, if I don't force retrys, two to three DAYS to download one AP unit. Fortunately I'm a slow cruncher.

I have not watched an AP task download in a while, but my machines that do run AP tasks have download averages of ~100k.

It looks as if the AP splitter is not working as well as it should - the same set of tapes being split as when I went off to work this morning, and "stuck" at the same channel numbers.

(No wander there are no new tapes being fed into the system...)

The result creation rate is rather low since 2 weeks.
But they can add a few other tapes into the pipe of course.
