Don't tempt 'em Mark - especially if they've been in communication with Monday's Antipodean cohort of helpers, they can be really mischievous....

Makes me think of the "Seven Ages of Man" speech from Shakespeare's "As You Like It"... If it's a comfort, I can't get into my wedding dress either anymore:) ____________

I can't get into my Dress Blues anymore - the Jumper fits, but the Pants are too big.

Weird story... I also already thought of attaching every computer at work to BOINC, but I would probably get caught :(

Weird story... I also already thought of attaching every computer at work to BOINC... That's the infamous NEZ... He still holds the top total credits at Seti. mikeej42 has about 10 million to go to overtake his record. I am number 6 on the all time creds list. ____________ ****** "Ask not, what your kitty can do for you. Ask what you can do for your kitty." As it is kitten, so shall it be done.

Weird story... I also already thought of attaching every computer at work to BOINC... I've been wondering about that. You sure you only use your own computers, Mark? ;) ____________

Weird story... I also already thought of attaching every computer at work to BOINC... All here, all in my own home, at my own cost. I ran Seti on my work computer, with my boss's knowledge and consent, for a few months when I first signed on back in 2000. That was before I built my first computer at home. Seti is why I built that first 233mmx rig. Since then, it's all been done right here in the kitty crunching den. ____________ ****** "Ask not, what your kitty can do for you. Weird story... I also already thought of attaching every computer at work to BOINC... That's really admirable, Mark. I miss my 8 rigs... ____________

I recall Mark once posted a picture of his Kitties - quite impressive, especially "Ice Cold" (or was it "Frozen"?) the freon cooled beast.

I recall Mark once posted a picture of his Kitties - quite impressive, especially "Ice Cold" (or was it "Frozen"?) the freon cooled beast. That would have been the original 'Frozen Penny' (Penryn). Still running, although with a newer processor. ____________ ****** "Ask not, what your kitty can do for you. Ask what you can do for your kitty." As it is kitten, so shall it be done.

That's the one - as Julie says "Quite impressive"

My Penny (air cooled) is still u=running, original CPU. It's the GPU that helps on other projects ...

That's the one - as Julie says "Quite impressive" I would never do it again...... It was quite effective on older processors, when the architecture was much larger than today's and CPUs dissipated more power, thus generating more heat. When cooled down to -30c or so, you could overclock them much higher than when using more conventional cooling means because you could keep the core temperatures in check. Nowadays, CPU speeds have increased, architecture size has decreased, and power usage and thus heat generation has also decreased. Much less involved and more power efficient cooling methods will easily get to the speeds I am at with the right chip. Without the muss and fuss and mess of packing the CPU socket and surrounding areas on the motherboard with gobs of clear silicone grease to prevent component killing condensation. OR the additional 500w or so of electricity it takes to run the compressor. The current 'Frozen One' is an i7 920. Rated at 2.67Ghz, it is currently clocked at 4.25Ghz at a running temperature of -27.5 centigrade. ____________ ****** "Ask not, what your kitty can do for you. Ask what you can do for your kitty." And just a couple of other notes, whilst I am thinking about them...

This is what you have to do just before you seat the cooling puck.

Place seems very empty the last few days. No Cafe visitors for some grub and a drink?
