Cheap Windows 8 Almost Gone, Can I just Copy BOINC Folder from XP?

I decided to upgrade my XP machine imitating a Media Center from XP to Windows 8 Pro. The offer is supposed to end the 31st. I found you can also get a Free upgrade to Windows Media Center right now as well. It has to be better than the ATI Media Center from 2007 I'm using. What about the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC Folder in XP? Can I just copy it to another hard-drive and then place it in Windows 8, in the proper location, before installing BOINC? I have set 'no new tasks' but it looks like it will be a couple days before the existing tasks are finished. I've already downloaded the upgrade and I'm ready now...

Just a Cautious Suggestion: (Firstly, I apologise for The long Message, but I felt I should Share My Experiences) ...
.. What sort of Computer System are you Using (ie Specs ... HD, RAM, Processor)? .... Particularly the RAM. Firstly, you'll need to be sure that it is sufficient to run The Windows8 OS (without anything else Running), then you need to allow for other Programs such as Security, and then for BOINC: In addition to that, any other Programs/Apps that may need to Run at the same time as any/all of the above.

I have a HP Notebook (Laptop) with the following Specs ...
.. GenuineIntel Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU P6200 @ 2.13GHz [Family 6 Model 37 Stepping 5], Running Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium x64 Edition, Service Pack 1, (06.01.7601.00)(2 processors) ... with 2GB RAM, and 320GB HD.
I am only Running SETIatHOME on this System. The 2GB RAM is Almost Totally Useless to Run any Programs that Utilise a Basic Amount of RAM, as it usually Runs at between 60 and 70 Percent RAM, when nothing is Running, besides the OS. It is currently Running at 77 Percent RAM Usage, with only BOINC Running. I am only using 1 Processor for SETI in My Preferences (so as not to utilise all my System Resources).
Only ONE TASK will run at one time. If I need to use any Large RAM programs or Open more than a couple og INET Pages, I often need to SUSPEND SETI, manually (I try to Run It All The Time, so as to enable completion of Tasks on time),
but put System in SLEEP MODE every couple of days for a few hours, or overnight to allow System to Cool Down). I wouldn't attempt to run any other Projects in fear that there would be Speed Issues, and Possible Crashes.

I run SETIatHOME plus 5 other Projects on my Desktop which is an ACER M1800 Aspire Desktop ... GenuineIntel Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU E1500 @ 2.20GHz [Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 13] (2 processors), with 4GB RAM. Microsoft Windows Vista
Home Basic x86 Edition, Service Pack 2, (06.00.6002.00), with 160GB RAM. This one will only Run 2 Tasks at The One Time. Although the 4GB RAM seems to make a Difference. once again, if I need to utilise a Large Ammount of RAM, I Manually SUSPEND All Projects. However, I COULD use Extra RAM, but The Maximum is 4GB.

My OLD Computer, a DELL GX270 with 40GB HD and 1GB RAM, which Runs XP PRO (Standard when I Purchased it), would not have a Hope In Hell of Running Windows 8.

The Computer Specs are in the first link of the first post. Task Manager says it's using 50% of the installed RAM while running 1 CPU & 2 GPU SETI tasks and also playing a video in WMP. Considering the Board will support 16GB of RAM, I don't think there would be a problem bumping it up to the limit of 4GB if needed. I don't see any need, it's a Media Center PC and seems to work just fine. The only problem I had was with the nVidia fiasco with Windows 8 and their drivers. I will probably reinstall Catalyst Media Center as it offers easy access to the 3 different input sources from my ATI Theater card. Apparently I was wrong thinking there couldn't be Media Center software worse than ATIs.
