OK, running optimized lunatics apps version .40.

On one of my computers I always have problems with astropulse v6. Not the enhanced 6.10, that always runs ok. I recently had to do a rebuild of the os, before the rebuild the v6's would always cause BSOD, so I stopped running them. Now with the os bumped up to 64bit and more memory (6gb)they just error out.

I have a radeon 6850 graphics card.

suggestions anyone?

The four that have erred out recently are all B6_P0 units, which tend to be heavily blanked and therefore frequently err out quickly. Others are not so susceptible to this problem, so I'd wait to see how they are handled.

B6_P0 certainly have a tendency to exit early, but with an informational message and a 'success' outcome - it's a valid and recognised exit path.

Errors, such as the OP's "exit code -1073741515 (0xc0000135)", are a different kettle of fish. That one translates as "The application failed to initialize properly", and usually indicates a missing DLL - which is odd, when it happens after 21,000 seconds. I'll leave that one for the ATI gurus to tease out.

100% Blanked tasks don't Error out, they finish in about 5 seconds flat, and you get a tiny amount of Credit when they validate.

He has two computers with the opposite problem. One is using way too much CPU the other isn't using any CPU at all. Both are probably using the old version AP 555, at least one is. Maybe you can talk him through updating to at least AP r1316.

The computer using a lot of CPU is suffering from the ATI/AMD 100% CPU usage Bug that AMD had from Cat 11.7 to ~11.10, If he upgrades to Cat 12.1 (and no later, since OpenCL is deprecated for XP from Cat 12.2) CPU usage should be reduced,
but he then might want to free a core so he doesn't suffer from the low GPU usage Bug, ::)

thank you for the quick response!

I have no idea how you can tell that my cpu usage is too much or not enough...
explain please. I run normal seti units on the cpu cores. Of my active 2 computers, one is an old 4 core running the XP os, the second is a not much newer 2 core cpu running vista 64bit. I checked my Vista machine and the amd driver for it is 11.6, for the xp machine it is 11.1. Both machines run fine as is for my usage, so I tend to do the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" with regard to drivers...I am not computer illiterate, I built both these machines from scratch, but in some areas my knowledge can be spotty...

So what do you think I need to do?

You might want to start with the driver update. For the XP machine, use version 12.1. I think people like version 12.3 for Vista. It appears there might be something missing from your Vista machine causing the App to not initialize. It looks like you are using the Lunatics installer, you might want to run the installer again on the Vista machine. There are newer AstroPulse versions available, but it would be more complicated to update. They are discussed in this thread astropulse GPU On your one machine you can see the CPU time is almost equal to your Run time, on ATI cards it is usually much lower. On the other machine the CPU time is Zero. It should be around 20% depending on the amount of blanking, I don't think it will work at Zero. Apparently it worked back in April, that CPU time is about normal.

"not enough"?
You mean "the other isn't using any CPU at all"? (word "using" is not proper here)
That was just observation that BOINC do not report any 'CPU time' usage by the GPU AstroPulse v6 app here:
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?hostid=6887782&offset=0&show_names=0&state=6&appid=12

And they are talking about 'high CPU usage' ('Run time' vs 'CPU time') by the GPU app here:
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?hostid=6608561&offset=0&show_names=0&state=2&appid=12

Compare with my ATI:
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?hostid=4832843&offset=0&show_names=0&state=2&appid=12

I'm using Catalyst 11.12

You are using Catalyst Versions that cause 'high CPU usage bug':
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/hosts_user.php?userid=114701
AMD AMD Radeon HD 6800 series (Barts) (1024MB) driver: 1.4.1417 = Catalyst 11.6
AMD ATI Radeon HD 5700 series (Juniper) (1024MB) driver: 1.4.1589 = Catalyst 11.10

OK, thank you again. I installed the suggested AMD driver updates and reinstalled lunatics on the Vista machine. Will wait and see if this fixes the problem.
