I have a 630 coming this week to help out my OptiPlex 755. Have been reading the FAQs and trying to figure out what it will take to set up the GPu crunching when I install the card. I see threads relating to optimized CPU and GPU apps, plus the use of an app_info.xml file, but looking to find a source or info on exactly what I can or should do to best get everything setup correctly and move the load from CPU to GPU

I have a 630 coming this week to help out my OptiPlex 755. Have been reading the FAQs and trying to figure out what it will take to set up the GPu crunching when I install the card. I see threads relating to optimized CPU and GPU apps, plus the use of an app_info.xml file, but looking to find a source or info on exactly what I can or should do to best get everything setup correctly and move the load from CPU to GPU. Doesn't take much to get started. Install it and set your website Seti preferences to use the gpu and make sure BOINC's activity menu says to use the gpu. After the next update, BOINC should know to ask for gpu work and the stock gpu application and tasks will download automatically. Guess I'd update whatever driver that shipped with it to the latest WHQL driver which I think is 310.70. Don't know what problems will pop up with ATI drivers you have installed. Perhaps others can help there. The installer for the optimized apps has been withdrawn pending resolution of a licensing issue, so you won't be able to install them now. ____________ Another Fred Support SETI@home when you search the Web or shop online with GoodSearch and GoodShop

Being a Kepler card does he need to set the environmental variable? If http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce_600_Series is correct, the retail GT 630 cards have GF108 (Fermi) chips. There's an OEM GT 630 shown with GK107 (Kepler), though. Joe

My own retail ASUS GT 630 is indeed a Fermi card as can be seen in GPU-Z, having a GF108 chip.
