A team member of mine asked me about Charity engine:

This is new to me and I couldn't find anything about this in various boinc forums.

There is a thread on Charity Engine on the BOINC message boards.

You'll have to fill in the gaps yourself: there was a bit of a flame war, and quite a lot got moderated out. Make of it what you will.
