I have an installation problem on 64 bit Windows 7.
Error message is 2203. Windows installer can not open database file.

Download the installer file again, it's corrupt. Save it to a different position than your previous one, or empty your temporary internet files before doing the download.

I cleared out my Temporary Internet files and tried again and got the same error.

Can you check something?

Open Windows Explorer.
Double click on your C: drive.
Right-click on the Temp directory->Properties.
Open the Security tab.

In the window with the Group or User names, is there a mention of SYSTEM?

You may also want to check that the Windows Installer service is not set to disabled. To do so, do Start->type services.msc in the search box and hit Enter.

In the window that opens, scroll down to the Windows Installer entry. It should not have a status and the start-up type should be Manual.
