I don't think Steven was saying Rob was the winner, but so be it.

Clearly, the portion "Now we know what Dune Finkleberry (S@H) goat poster has been up to when not posting much on here" is an entry in the caption contest.

Just a reminder - If you want to discuss a game this is the place to do so, if you want to enter the game, the post in the game thread. If you post both discussion of the game and an entry in one on the game thread don't moan if your post ends up here.

1) Ridiculous.
2) Will we next have an expanded "Rules" on the left specifically or posting in those threads. At what point is it no longer any fun at all for anyone?
3) Plenty of other "discussion" occurred from the posting of a photo to caption and before the declaration of a winner.

Yet again Sarge is wrong, the rules, as in the first post of the current BEETS thread:
Just a reminder of the rules:

You try to come up with a family-friendly caption to the shot posted.

Whoever posts the current picture is the judge of the competition: judging should take place 24 hours after posting the picture, or no later than 48 hours if 10 entries haven't been received within the first 24 hours. Any reminders to the judge should be sent by personal mail if necessary.

Judges, please announce first, second and third place with a PM to the winner.

Winner posts the next picture; if the winner doesn't respond in 24 hours, the second place is up, etc.

Chat between rounds (judging has occurred, but the next picture isn't up yet) is allowed.

Yes, chat has occurred during a game, and has been moved to the discussion thread when spotted.

Public opinion poll:

Should posts such as Sarge's that was moved from Beets to Discussion, and mine that wasn't, be allowed in Beets? I.e., containing both discussion of the picture and/or a previous entry, and a new entry.

Public opinion poll No.2

Who gives a damn one way or the other anyway? If the mods want to move posts so what? If they don't want to move posts so what? Is anybody really bothered? I must be really bored on a Sunday afternoon to even bother to post this - I need to get a life .....

You mean, besides here in SetiLand?

Are you telling me that between us all we can't find it?

Of course not. Someone will have always gotten up on the wrong side of the bed and got a knot in their knickers.

Oooooer .....

Far too many people take minutae too seriously around here. Yes, it does make sense to have captions in one place and discussions about them in another, but don't let's be too rigid about that. It is all supposed to be lighthearted and fun, if we take some of the spontaneity out of it all, it will spoil it. There has to be a happy medium somewhere.

Are you telling me that between us all we can't find it?

That, in a nutshell, was my point.

@Chris -
As soon as Gary said Easter? Kerching! But it really was a stab in the dark. I feel a bit guilty pinching it off Gary though because I think he may have got it first. Oh well. I'll go searching and get back.

I suspect Gary plays some games the way I do - to advance the game, rather than to win.

That was a little unfair. We on this side of the pond (well me at least) never heard of hot cross buns. Am I wrong that it's brit thing?

Way wrong. We've had them up here (SF Bay Area) around Easter time ever since I can remember. The ones I remember having as a kid had yellow lemon filling in the cross.
