Question: the title of the TLPTPW thread has changed a lot recently. Is the person who created the thread able to do that, or do they have to ask a moderator? David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

Only a Mod can do that. Not true! The owner can do it when editing a newly created post (no reply). Gruß, Gundolf |

How come Vic (to name but one), without asking a mod for assistance, can change a thread name when there are messages posted? I think the rules are - Mod, just about any time, owner once there is a post, the rest never. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

How come Vic (to name but one), without asking a mod for assistance, can change a thread name when there are messages posted? I looked at Kitchen Tool 3 and didn't see any way I could change it. How come Vic (to name but one), without asking a mod for assistance, can change a thread name when there are messages posted? To change a thread title: OP posts - not reply or quote - to the thread. He then hits edit on the post. Above the text of his post he will see a box where he can change the thread title. He accepts his edit. Title is changed. If need be he can then ask a mod, via red-X, to hide the post he had to make to change it. |

Sometimes an image is so good I'm tempted to download it and put in the number just so I can use it in the counting thread. P.S. Is there a parameter I can put in the image tag to set the size I want it to appear as, instead of its native size? Wrong size for that, unless they're Vic's goldfish. (That's a major hint.) Goldfish are basically carp. They can grow to amazing sizes... A person who won't read has no advantage over one who can't read. (Mark Twain) |

Wrong size for that, unless they're Vic's goldfish. (That's a major hint.) Well, I'm thinking of the very small ones. Actually probably a lot smaller than the ones Vic is talking about getting. Perhaps a note in the "rules" of the count too thread to not post any obviously copyright pictures, There were several in the last thread and yes I know I am to blame!! The new Google picture search doesn't always make it obvious if the picture is copyright, you must check on the website concerned before posting. Alan |

I think perhaps that: © Original Artist Probably means we should not be using these images. Just saying. |

I think perhaps that: depends where the site is. IIRC US and other countries are fairly liberal when it comes to 'fair usage' 'non-profit' use - such as linking here. You'd have to know the copyright laws of the hosting coutry fairly well. It often is enough if you do a proper citation of the source. Obviously best if there isn't a restrictive copyright on it.
