Heyo,

I've only got about 1 GB left on my C: drive (the drive I installed BOINC to). I want BOINC to save workloads on my D: drive instead, which has much more space.

I see no option in the computing preferences for this. Do I have to edit some gross config file by hand, or is it not possible to change the disk location at all?

That's not done by options, preferences or config files but during the install process.

So, all you have to to is

  • Stop BOINC completely (Shut down connected client...)
  • Uninstall BOINC (that leaves your BOINC data intact)
  • Move/copy the BOINC data directory (the one with the client_state.xml file) to the desired destination
  • Install BOINC again and (on the third screen) select advanced mode to adjust the path name of the data directory.
  • Restart BOINC. (It should resume your tasks without loss of work done.)

Gruß,
Gundolf
