Hi all;
In the last couple of weeks my machines have reported that they cannot connect to the Internet, although they will occasionally connect. This is occurring on three machines; two of the machines have Zone Alarm installed. I have checked the program settings and the BOINC programs are allowed to connect. I have even disabled the firewall, with no success. I have restarted BOINC, and rebooted teh machines, with no luck. DNS services are working. Any ideas on where I should look next?
Thanks;

On a lark I shut down the manager, flushed the DNS cache, and restarted the manager. Saw the status on a handful of WU change from Uploading to Ready to Report, but then I received the message that BOINC couldn't connect. |

zone alarm can get confused after it ha been installed far a while I am not sure
why but I have found that uninstalling and not saving settings and re-installing
will frequently solve the problem.
to test this disable zone alarm if boinc works uninstall re-install.

I get that on a machine even though it is connected. I'll be surfing and have a BOINC message pop in the tray saying it can't connect. Obviously something in BOINC is a lot more sensitive to momentary hiccups than any browser.

Just an update for anyone else looking into this issue. I've disabled Zone Alarm; no change. I removed Zone Alarm; no change. Reinstalled Zone Alarm; no change.
I can get BOINC to update the status on three or four WU, from Uploading to Ready to Report, if I shut BOINC down, wait about 30 seconds, and then restart it. There seems to be a window where it will communicate. Then I get the unable to connect message. I was able to force all of the SETI WU from one machine to be reported; took over an hour. I'm also running Milkyway on these machines. It has the same issues but will sometimes connect.
So I've suspended SETI on both of these machines and dedicated them to Milkyway. I don't have the time to mess with it. At least I will be in the top 350 there too pretty soon. :)
