He shouldn't have hit her, equally she oughtn't defend him too much, i'm not condoning that.
However, if it truly was a one off incident (as has been stated), and not a continual or repeated problem, and if the couple have made their peace; he should serve his two match ban then be allowed to put the whole matter behind them and move on, having learnt his lesson.

Thanks Hev. That helps our research, however, it has just made it more difficult for Joyce, her husband & I with our 4th book.

From what I found regarding "Internalised Oppression" it's more or less similar to the "Stockholm Syndrome", but the problem (at least with Google) is that it is a jungle out there to do any "proper" research. Most of the links provided are mainly 2/3 page abstracts.

Can you provide any links to a more definitive paper/study guide?

A positive view towards women

At least one man thinks so...

"I am in this role because the owner believes in me. He also believes that women are better than men at managing budgets."

Rotherham Update:

How very convenient for them...

Council subject to independent inspection

"It comes after the council's chief executive told MPs key reports relating to abuse had disappeared."

...aye, it's a grand life being a leader...

...the buck stops elsewhere!

Well prostitution & politics are much older than religion itself. Who knows, maybe religion was invented to control said professions & the religious leaders ended up the pimps for civilisation itself.

*frown* The oldest profession is more honorable imo

[edit]And I know what the oldest profession is, those women don't influence whole society's with their 'profession'.

Unbelievable!

Do politicians & the slimeballs within local authorities think people are that stupid?

MP seeks law

"Over that period of time not one member of the public came to a surgery of mine, not one local councillor asked me a question, either in my political group or in full council, not one local MP in Rotherham raised the issue or a case of CSE for those five years."

Yet we see this: -

"The report by Professor Alex Jay detailed how children had been subjected to trafficking, rape and other sexual exploitation over a 16-year period and how their abuse had been ignored by a range of agencies, including police, councillors and council officials."

For anything to be ignored, it first must come to the attention of those that ignore!

Director finally resigns

"She insisted that, given her findings, "nobody could say I didn't know"."

Just confirms the statement in bold above.

It looks like some justice can be had in India.

http://www.news.com.au/world/thirteen-men-jailed-20-years-for-gang-rape-in-west-bengal-india/story-fndir2ev-1227065313185

AN INDIAN court has sentenced 13 people, including a village headman, to 20 years in jail for gang-raping a tribal woman as a punishment for “dishonouring” her community.

The 20-year-old woman was gang-raped on orders from tribal village elders who objected to her relationship with a man from a different community.

The attack took place in January in a remote village in eastern West Bengal state, where the unmarried woman from the Santhal group, one of India’s largest tribes, was suspected of having a relationship with a man from another village.

All the 13 accused were found guilty on charges of gang-rape, wrongful confinement and voluntarily causing hurt, lawyers said.

“The case ended within eight months. The accused were found guilty on the basis of medical reports and statements of 31 witnesses,” prosecution lawyer Mohammed Samsul Zoha said on Saturday from the city of Bolpur where the court hearing was held.

Cheers.

Now this story is so wrong on so many levels. :-O

http://www.news.com.au/world/north-america/special-needs-girl-14-raped-after-school-used-her-as-bait-to-catch-school-predator/story-fnh81jut-1227067244084

A SPECIAL needs student was allegedly sexually assaulted after a teacher persuaded her to act as “bait” to help catch a school rapist.

The bungled sting was set in motion in January 2010 when the 14-year-old girl told a teacher’s aide that her classmate, a 16-year-old boy, asked her for sex in the bathroom.

The special needs boy had a history of sexual harassment andviolent behaviour, according to court documents.

Teacher’s aide June Simpson came up with a plan to catch the boy “in the act” by getting the girl to wait for him in the bathroom at Alabama’s Sparkman Middle School.

Court documents reveal Simpson told vice principal Jeanne Dunaway of the plan, but she didn’t provide any “advice or directive.”

Simpson led the girl to the bathroom and instructed her, “Don’t do anything. Just get him to meet you and we’ll catch him.”

Simpson told authorities she watched security cameras but when neither the girl or boy went into the bathroom, the teacher gave up and left.

However, CNN reports the students had simply gone into a different bathroom, where the boy allegedly raped the girl.

While the boy claimed he only kissed her, medical personnel found evidence of trauma “consistent with (the girl) being sodomised.”

Dunaway later testified that the victim “was responsible for herself once she entered the bathroom.”

The young girl left school and fell into depression.

After a criminal investigation resulted in no charges, the girl’s family filed a federal lawsuit in October 2010 against the boy, the three administrators, the teacher’s aide and the school board.

The allegations resurfaced last week when Alabama District Court erroneously dismissed the lawsuit and the Department of Justice filed a brief saying the case should be heard.

So it seems that it's just not the rapists that need to be worried about. :-(

The nerve of this person. I hope she never, ever gets a position where she is responsible for anyone ever again.

A very sad twist to Twitter and silly (non-)security and non-privacy and male ignorance:

... trying to silence Emma Watson by leaking naked photos - but they only made her voice louder

It’s amazing how quickly your Twitter feed can turn...

... it says everything about the minds of these people that they assume the most humiliating thing any woman can experience is public nudity...

All a very sad silly cultural thing and a pathetically impoverished view from some. Bad education? Bad religion? Or too impoverished an existence?...

How longer yet for more enlightened times for all?...
