hey guys... just installed native boinc on my sgsIII....lookin good so far... tell me pls...can you not turn off the screen while computing? seems to me if you do lock the screen (turn it off) - the computing stops... am i missing smth? i think much battery would be saved crunching with screen off, but with app preventing phone to sleep.... thx |

App allows not to prevent switching screen off. But what will be with crunching (in my understanding) depends from particular device model. Some allows full CPU while screen off but some perhaps suspend CPU too to save battery "when user doesn't look". Try to allow energy saving in app and see if computing stops completely or just slows down (CPU clock throttle). Also you could try to disable power saving and switch display off manually each time (presing power button). It's possible that device behavior will be different in these 2 cases of switching off screen. SETI apps news We're not gonna fight them. We're gonna transcend them. |

looks like i missed it after all :) didnt see the prevent underclocking option apparently...although i have been setting power options... thx for the pointer Raistmer.. now computing normally with screen off...look it has been downclocking before... almost no extra heat with screen off more like a little bit of warmth... interested to see how the battery will cope.. thx again |
