if they stopped sending out work till Results out in the field were almost zero. then analyze whats left and if the computers doing that work will ever return it. all the time build up a huge reserve of Results ready to send... in other words kinda start over with whatever changes the have planned ie:
(longer wu's, less load on the database and so on.. )

id rather a go month or so without any work if in the end it results in a much more stable and smoother running project overall

Nope because then people won't be able to get any work due to the traffic jam of all those machines without any trying to get some.

They need to track down the underlying cause of the present problems & resolve it/them, and it's easier to find out what's wrong with something when it's broken than when it's working OK.

There is some end point coming, I think.
Kinda like the choice between life and death.

I choose life, and what comes next.
The Seti project may choose the other route.

I have been processing Seti data for over 13 years.
Have returned more valid results than only 6 or 7 others on the planet.

I, too, would like to see more relevant info returned to me for the 13 years of effort. Even if it is to say, sorry, we have sorted everything, and have still not found anything.

I KNOW how and why JFK was killed, even if none of you believe me.

What I do not know, and truly wish to, is..........

ARE WE ALONE.

I do not believe that we are. I only wish to prove it so that the rest of you can no longer call me names.

I choose to believe.

Oh, Mark... friend...fellow-cruncher... that isn't why we call you names!

<grinning, running, ducking, wearing body armor, with only with a scratching post for self-defense>

I think the rest of "us" are probably with you on that. Everyone here's singing from the same hymnal and we're even turned to the same page.

Speaking of kitties and stuff. You know, it's gotten to where I can't sneak a midnight snack. Everyone in the house knows when I go to the kitchen because of the begging, almost desperate meows, trying to get me to share. Sometimes it's stuff I can't share; some things just ain't good for cats. Other times it's stuff they wouldn't want me to share. But all the time it sounds like someone's torturing an innocent four-pawed critter, or three, or more accurately, five. (others can't get to the kitchen)

I share when I can.

Often, quickly.

It would be nice to hear something about the progress on the NTPCkr, and the rfi rejection on the candidates...

I know about the lack of proper funding, but still...
