What exactly reports that the GPU isn't found anymore? The operating system, or BOINC? If BOINC, try to uninstall & reinstall the videocard drivers. It's possible that Windows got updated videocard drivers in and these lack --depending on brand of course-- CUDA, CAL, OpenCL and OpenGL components. Could still be a problem with drivers. Try to clean them out first, using something like Driver Sweeper or Driver-Fusion. Then do the regulatory reboots. If Windows still doesn't detect the card upon return, it's dead. But in that case try to reseat it first. Check also for bulging capacitors, or burn marks. Oh, and one thing I found at one point in time when my GPU went missing was that the power-lead had come loose. Might be a thing to check. ;-) Jord Ancient Astronaut Theorists can tell you that I do not help with tech questions via private message. Please use the forums for that. |

Unlikely to be the "wiring" as the GPU on a laptop motherboard is jut a chip on the board there is no separate "wiring". Laptop motherboard not many "wires in sight" ![]() My laptop does not have Intel Graphics so if the GPU failed then I would get a blank screen. As you have the Intel graphics I am assuming you have something called "'Optimus Technology' developed by nVidia" This basically means for all normal functions the Intel chip displays the graphics. For all graphic intensive functions like HD video, gaming or crunching the Nvidia GPU takes over. With this set up from what I have read on the web it is possible for the Nvidia GPU to become " disabled". All I can suggest is to see if there is anyway to find a "disabled" GPU "Proud to be born and bred in Croydon" |

Did you try to delete the Intel graphics driver and reboot and see if windows then picks up on your Nvidia? Extraordinary claims require Extraordinary proof. |
