Backup projects took over all my GPU's yesterday, my 2500K this morning and my Q6600 by tonight but my old E6300 maybe lucky enough to make it through. Cheers. |

Looking at the build-up of Results Ready to Send and the fact that scheduling and download servers seem to be imminently on-line, I feel a log-jam coming on... |

Ow. My downloads hurt so much. 15 APs and counting. Longest-running one is at 43 minutes and is at 1.19%. Going to be a long night. Linux laptop: record uptime: 1511d 20h 19m (ended due to the power brick giving-up) |

This has got to be the worst traffic jam in a long time. Even after the previous outages (expected & not) downloads would generally complete, even if it took a while. After this outage it's taking lots of retries & Network activity suspended then Network activity available again just to get things to download. They start off ok at 5-10kB/s, then just slow down after 5-10 seconds & stall. Add to that lots of Scheduler timeouts & HTTP service not available & i think it's going to take a fair while for things to settle down. EDIT- the downloads are no longer stalling, now it's taking several minutes for data to start downloading after the download technically started. Then after 5-15 min it will then time out after sporradically downloading. Grant Darwin NT |

I have my max of 100 tasks, Stuck in download limbo, Grrrrrr. and 54 of them are partly downloaded and impossible to move, I wonder if all these partial downloads that we all have help jam the system up in any way ? |

I'm wondering if the network is using some type of traffic shaping. I've noticed that usually when downloads start, there is a burst of download speed then after 10-15 seconds it comes down to a crawl and may stop entirely. I would really like to know why download traffic is so ragged in response. I understand the network is very congested with excessive demand, but downloads coming to a complete stop and then timing out are very frustrating - even a download of 1k/second would let you know that the network is still alive. |

I'm wondering if the network is using some type of traffic shaping, frustrating Yes - its the same shape as the cork in a bottle neck :( - even a download of 1k/second would let you know that the network is still alive. Now there is a good idea in the makeing, sort of. How about forceing a max download speed of 5KBs per host ? Some users have in the past reported that even when the majority of us are having problems or no chance of downloading anything that they still get `good` download speeds, So introduce a limit to hope to share out what is available. OK, its a nice idea, welcom to the real world . . . ... |

All you guys are not connecting at the blinding speed of .85 kps? I knew I should have waited another day before I opened the gate. Well it will sort out soon I hope:) [/quote] Old James |

So I left my list of AP DLs to the mechanics of BOINC and when I woke up, they were in a project back-off of 18 hours..which started at 24. Time to start button-mashing again. My new longest-running one is at 1:38:22 and is only at 27.33%. Oh, and I now have more of them trying to DL, so the number is up from the 15 that it was last night, to 21. 21*8=168mb at an average of 382 bytes/sec comes out to... 461,153 seconds, which is 5d 8h 5m 53.8s. Good times. Linux laptop: record uptime: 1511d 20h 19m (ended due to the power brick giving-up) |

Good times. Same here. I found a really good Proxy last night and downloaded around 70 APs at 15-20 KBps. Very few stalls. I went off the Proxy when I went to bed in case the Proxy went offline. I awoke to a page and a half of stalled DLs with the fastest active one at 4 KBps. I went back on the Proxy and cleared things up with 4 simultaneous DLs at 15-20 KBs, very few stalls. I went back off the Proxy a while ago and now I have 4 new AP DLs working at around 2 KBps with stalls. When it got to 5 DLing at 4 KBps I went back on the Proxy; 1/16/2013 3:01:53 PM | SETI@home | Temporarily failed download of ap_10oc12ae_B4_P0_00208_20130103_05695.wu: transient HTTP error 1/16/2013 3:01:53 PM | SETI@home | Backing off 6 min 20 sec on download of ap_10oc12ae_B4_P0_00208_20130103_05695.wu 1/16/2013 3:01:53 PM | SETI@home | Temporarily failed download of ap_10oc12ae_B5_P1_00039_20130103_32053.wu: transient HTTP error 1/16/2013 3:01:53 PM | SETI@home | Backing off 4 min 52 sec on download of ap_10oc12ae_B5_P1_00039_20130103_32053.wu 1/16/2013 3:01:53 PM | SETI@home | Started download of ap_31my12ag_B1_P1_00187_20130116_32576.wu 1/16/2013 3:01:54 PM | | Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down. 1/16/2013 3:02:50 PM | SETI@home | Started download of ap_10oc12ae_B4_P0_00208_20130103_05695.wu 1/16/2013 3:03:24 PM | | Using proxy info from GUI 1/16/2013 3:03:24 PM | | Using HTTP proxy 1/16/2013 3:04:12 PM | | Suspending network activity - user request 1/16/2013 3:04:20 PM | | Resuming network activity 1/16/2013 3:04:20 PM | SETI@home | Started download of ap_30oc12aa_B5_P0_00309_20130116_23850.wu 1/16/2013 3:04:20 PM | SETI@home | Started download of ap_10oc12ae_B4_P0_00208_20130103_05695.wu 1/16/2013 3:04:20 PM | SETI@home | Started download of ap_10oc12ae_B5_P1_00039_20130103_32053.wu 1/16/2013 3:04:20 PM | SETI@home | Started download of ap_30oc12af_B2_P0_00094_20130116_07195.wu 1/16/2013 3:06:35 PM | SETI@home | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. 1/16/2013 3:06:35 PM | SETI@home | Requesting new tasks for NVIDIA and ATI 1/16/2013 3:06:37 PM | SETI@home | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks 1/16/2013 3:06:37 PM | SETI@home | No tasks sent 1/16/2013 3:06:37 PM | SETI@home | No tasks are available for AstroPulse v6 1/16/2013 3:06:37 PM | SETI@home | This computer has reached a limit on tasks in progress 1/16/2013 3:06:37 PM | SETI@home | Project has no tasks available 1/16/2013 3:11:07 PM | SETI@home | Finished download of ap_30oc12af_B2_P0_00094_20130116_07195.wu 1/16/2013 3:11:07 PM | SETI@home | Started download of ap_31my12ag_B1_P1_00187_20130116_32576.wu 1/16/2013 3:11:13 PM | SETI@home | Finished download of ap_10oc12ae_B4_P0_00208_20130103_05695.wu 1/16/2013 3:11:54 PM | SETI@home | Finished download of ap_30oc12aa_B5_P0_00309_20130116_23850.wu 1/16/2013 3:12:06 PM | SETI@home | Finished download of ap_10oc12ae_B5_P1_00039_20130103_32053.wu 1/16/2013 3:14:53 PM | SETI@home | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. 1/16/2013 3:14:53 PM | SETI@home | Reporting 1 completed tasks 1/16/2013 3:14:53 PM | SETI@home | Requesting new tasks for CPU and NVIDIA and ATI 1/16/2013 3:14:58 PM | SETI@home | Scheduler request completed: got 2 new tasks 1/16/2013 3:15:01 PM | SETI@home | Started download of ap_31my12ag_B1_P1_00231_20130116_32576.wu 1/16/2013 3:15:01 PM | SETI@home | Started download of ap_30oc12aa_B6_P1_00004_20130116_16888.wu ....
