Why is it those that are most intent on surviving,
seem those with the least intent on living?

I have to look no further than those fixated on survival to know that if society does collapse, I do not want to live in the world where they are in charge. Not just are they not "party animals" they do not value all the good that is around them.

If we could convince them all "this is it! The world is ending! Run and hide in your shelters!"... I doubt society as a whole would miss them. And maybe everyone else could breath a collective sigh of relief for a while.

I think you have encountered a small # of actual survivalists.

I happen to know several people that have their homes stocked with over a years

worth of canned and dried goods that have guns and other hunting equipment put

aside, that also happen to be very active in their communities and would

definitely be missed if they just disappeared. most of the people out their that

consider themselves to be survivalists are not the type to be screaming it out

to everyone out there. These people realize that disasters happen and even

without "The End" things happen and having a fall back is a good idea.

BTW most of the people I have known don't know how to live and also never plan

for their future past a few months
