Sometime between October 23 and December 18 your host 5518048 switched from an anonymous platform configuration with ATI apps for both AP and MB to stock configuration. Stock has an ATI application for AP only, none for MB yet.

Thanks Joe, I have no idea what was changed or how...
What do I have to do to get it back to an anonymous platform?

Check your seti/data directory for some files.

app_info.xml or maybe
app_info.bak

AK_v8b2_win_SSE3_INTEL.exe
MB7_win_x86_SSE3_OpenCL_ATi_HD5_r390.exe
MultiBeam_Kernels_r390.cl

Ok, I'm looking here: (the right place?)

C:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu

There is no app_info or the others... but this is there - AstroPulse_Kernels_r1316.cl

And in control panel Lunatics is still installed.

I don't know what's happening!

Reboot if you have not already.
Failing that, I would just re-run the Lunatics installer. That should set things right again.

That's the normal path on Win7, the kernels file is associated with the stock ATI AP application which is running. The Lunatics install would have had AstroPulse_Kernels_r555.cl and MultiBeam_Kernels_r390.cl instead.

And in control panel Lunatics is still installed.

I don't know what's happening!

There have been a number of reports of hosts for which all tasks suddenly went to "Abandoned" status on the server's listings, which is a side effect of doing a detach/reattach (aka remove/add for BOINC 7) sequence. But the users hadn't done that, so BOINC must have somehow done it spontaneously; nobody has figured a logical way for that to happen AFAIK. Your case may have been the same, the detach deletes the project directory completely and the reattach includes a work request which gets fresh work and stock application(s).

Mark Sattler is right, if you retained a copy of the Lunatics installer you could just run it again. There's one conflict with the work you have in progress, though, it's marked to be done by version 604 and the installer sets the AP application up as version 601. So after the normal install run all that work would be deleted, then the servers would resend it as "lost" work. That's good, the app used to do the work would be correct in the server records. However, it means any partially done task has to be rerun from the beginning. So choose your time to do the transition just after a new task has started, and make sure all completed tasks have been uploaded AND reported before the install.

If you didn't retain the installer, you might as well just stay with the current configuration. The project has recently been running fewer AP splitters with the effect being that there's a more steady supply, so you'll probably be able to get enough work to keep the GPU busy. If not, you might consider attaching to the SETI@home/AstroPulse Beta project, which does have both AP v6 and MB v7 applications for ATI GPUs.

Thanks for the replies,

I re-installed lunatics, can't remember what was in my app_info last time so for now I've put the count to 0.5 to run 2 WU's at once.

MultiBeam is working fine but the AstroPulse tasks are erroring straight away???

Re-read Joe Segur's post. He explained that it would happen.

I did what he said, all tasks were finished / uploaded and I had zero tasks in Boinc before I installed Lunatics.... then I got a new batch of tasks.

Why would the AP's error as soon as they start?

Sorry, did not know you had finished all your WUs before reinstalling Lunatics.
I cannot answer what the problem is....I have no ATI cards, only nVidia.

The error is shown as...
<core_client_version>6.10.58</core_client_version>

while catalyst 12.11 beta 11 does now seam to run I am getting less than optimal

use of gpu recommend uninstall of driver and re install of catalyst 12.8

check claggys posts for some lingering files if you have problems

Rats, I forgot that one. The libfftw3f-3.dll was deleted by BOINC just after the install, but is needed by the AP v6 application. When the installer was made it was thought best to not have a reference to that file in the app_info.xml. But when the OpenCL apps became stock releases that decision proved to be bad; since the DLL was provided by the project to support the stock app it gets deleted.

The deletion only happens on the transition from stock to anonymous platform, after that BOINC will leave files in the project folder untouched if they're not referenced in app_info.xml. There ought to be a copy of libfftw3f-3.dll in the C:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu\oldApp_backup folder, just copy it back to the setiathome.berkeley.edu folder.

Another simple fix is to just rerun the installer, but that will undo any changes you've made in the app_info.xml.

Thanks, copying that file over has worked, now crunching AP again.

GPU is only running from 60% to 80% doing 2 AP's at a time, will bump it up to 3 and see if it gets near 100%.

I'm getting 99% running MultiBeam two at a time.

The card is a HD 6970 with Catalyst 12.3 by the way.

And thank you, Josef, for getting David back on his way again.
With all the experience I have with Boinc, opti apps, and Seti, I can't begin to approach your level of knowledge with same.
Mostly, my diminishing memory of such things lets me down lately.
I just can't keep track of it any more.
I try to help some others, but have lost the fine points.

Hey Josef, what's the deal with Seti Beta, doesn't look like a lot of people run it?

Does it work if I have Lunatics installed (nVidia and ATI) ?
Are the credits the same as normal Seti?
How do you join, it's not listed as a project in Boinc manager?

Dont look for credits at Beta.
Its for testing in principle but of course you will get credits normally.
Yes, basically they are calculated similar.
Beta is a seperate project so it will work with Lunatics installed.

Check here http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/beta/
