I have been running SETI@Home for many yrs now.

I want to experiment with a LINUX Cluster.
But from what iv read doing this will try and run 1 WU on each CPU in the cluster.
Can this be done to run 1WU (Same WU) on all CPUs to speed processing up ?

Generally not. The workunits are allready split up about as much as is possible. So running one per CPU is normally the most efficient way to do it.

It'd make a nice distributed paperweight.

and generate heat this winter.

I've been playing around with a small openmosix Linux cluster some months ago. I used it to crunch some seti@home classic wu. What is really interesting is the fact that a process can be migrated from the master node to a slave node. When the wu has finished, control is given back to the master node and the result will be sent by the master node. Obviously all results seem to come from one host in the end. But I never tested this with boinc_seti.

One thing that puts a massive damper on these clusters is that since it will only show as a single host to BOINC, you will only be able to download 50 work units/day. The only way of getting around this would be to attach to multiple projects.
