old computer died You can merge computer records if they are similar enough -- go to the computer details page and there's a merge option down the bottom. Your 11 jobs "in progress" will be lost however. |

Bob You can't strictly move work but you can trick it thinking the new one is the old through swapping drives. Take all drives out of the new computer, take the C: drive out of the old and put it into the new one. Chances are you will need to download get new drivers etc, but when it logs its first returned wu, it will change the profile of the "recorded" machine. You can check S@H to see when the profile has changed and then abort all wus on the old drive. Take old drive out of new computer and put all the new drives back in. Then reattached to Seti and then you can merge machines. I know others will disagree but it's what I do when I change motherboards/processors etc... I get it to think that it is the same so that it will merge...regardless of what the boxes are... It's a bit fiddly but it works...just depends on whether you want to go to the trouble or not... cheers |

I usually backup the BOINC data directory, install BOINC on new machine and the restore data directory followed by a repair install of BOINC to reset permissions. Probably doesn't help you though as you may have lost the hard disk. If you haven't you could put it in as a 2nd drive and copy the files across to your C: drive and do the repair install. old computer died Follow this FAQ entry: How to revert to an older HostID number? You've nurtured your low hostID number for a couple of years and all of a sudden BOINC decides it's time you got a newer one. Is it possible to revert to the older number? Well yes, here's how. Claggy |
