Fortunately its highly unlikely that there is any intelligent life near enough to make it here. Habitable planets does not necessarily equal intelligent life. Remember, this planet has not have intelligent life on it for most of its history. No, it is highly unlikely. Even further on, unless there is some sort of FTL travel, we won't be getting any visitors. Reality Internet Personality |

The problem is that there should be no denial. The question is all about contact and mutual recognition. Who is going to to initiate such a contact? Should I perhaps put away the beverage on the upcoming New Years' Eve and rather keep a watch on the nightly sky (which very well may be obscured by clouds). My best guess is that last year's New Year celebration was shared locally with someone else (Chinese lights) who later left the party as peacefully and gracefully as when they arrived. You guessed me right. I do have a video camera recorder. Perhaps it is time to unpack it and get it operational once again - only 8 days or so left. |

I posted before reading your post. Which numbers are being used by a possible extraterrestrial intelligence or precence when it comes to communication? In the end, the more numbers (or lines) being returned fills out the empty lines in our current knowledge even though not everything is returning something of particular interest. Those numbers who do not become readily accepted are part of this puzzle which slowly is being filled in at its empty points and subsequently being explained and interpreted by the Seti@home scientists (including astronomers). |
