Bad idea - this thread is the place to ask for explanations - sometimes what the poster may think is going to fool us all turns out to be blindingly obvious, and others one that the poster thinks is obvious is so obscure we all end up with splinters from scratching our heads in frustration.

At least I haven't resorted to using my native Scots yet as that would really confuse ay-folk

When someone mentions Godiva, for me it's a toss-up between the naked Lady and the Chocolate ......

I was wondering if the response to Jefferson would be Airplane, Starship, George, or Weezy.

I'm proud of myself for not saying Enterprise in response to Starship.

But now I wish I'd said Titanic instead of Voyager.

Are hyphens allowed?

If not ignore my "Self-propelled".

For some words it is debateable. i.e depending which dictionary you look in, it can be Busbar, bus-bar or bus bar.

I used Niagara - peninsula, since everybody around here calls it a peninsula. But when I look at it on a map, it looks to me like more of an isthmus. If a river down the middle makes it a peninsula, or actually two peninsulas side by side, why isn't Panama a peninsula?

These things keep me awake at night.

If I had been paying attention instead of napping when Niagara was posted, I would have said escarpment.

hunchback > osteopath

A very old B.C. comic strip had the bird ask the turtle a riddle:

Who goes, "Uh, pardon me sir, would you mind leaving by the back door?"

.

.

.

.

The turtle says he doesn't know, and the bird tells him "Quasimodo's osteopath."

horse shoes > grenades

As in, close only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades (and nuclear warfare).
