Seti Boinc and Windows 8 Metro Apps

	Hi all I know, this might seem a little off topic here, but the only project I am running currently is SETI, so I've posted this here. If I want to suspend CPU and/or GPU tasks , I can, by setting the relevant .exe file in Boinc Exclusive Applications. How on earth do I do that with a windows 8 Metro app. I'm finding those apps such as our 4OD and other video apps will become jerky, as BOINC is still running in the background. Yes, I can de-activate BOINC or suspend it, but I was wondering how it could be done automatically, as is done in BOINC Exclusive Applications. The Metro apps seem to run in an environment of their own, and don't seem to have individual .exe files that I can suspend.

	The way I think it works the metro apps will die down if not in use. I bypass metro with third party utility that boots into the desktop and puts back the start menu there are many on the internet and are free. ____________

If you can't find the executable for the application you are running this might help. -With your full screen app running access the Desktop -Open Task Manager & select "show details" if you don't already have the details displayed. -Select the details tab -Find your running application using the description column. -Your exe name will be on the left. When I used Windows 8 I couldn't play online games very well. The various default apps were always updating their content over the internet. My connection is 1.5Mbps so it was a fight for bandwidth with the game always (seeming) to lose out. ____________ </Tazz>

	When I used Windows 8 I couldn't play online games very well. The various default apps were always updating their content over the internet. My connection is 1.5Mbps so it was a fight for bandwidth with the game always (seeming) to lose out. That's the major problem with Win 8. Microsoft did not stop to think of their users - the ones who pay the bills. There should have been a setting within control panel to set the update timings or disable. Most users know what they're running & whether or not they want to update. ____________
