My other hobby is woodworking. While I'm not not an expert, I do the whoel process, from cutting down the tree, rather than just going and buying wood from the store. So I've had my own sawmill for a few years now, just a portable hobby machine.

Anyway I'm active in couple of online forums for like minded folks, and fiends with the staff at a local portable sawmill manufacturer. A few months back they approached me about doing a field test for a new mill they were releasing. I thought "why not", and they dropped the mill off and basically left me and my mate to play with it in our spare time. We cut some trees, sawed them up, generally had some fun. Reported back on a couple of gremlins with the mill design so they could fix them, and sent the mill back.

Well, a week back Layla emails me again, just to check I would be home as they were calling by to drop off a gift as a thank you for the mill testing.

They never told me it was THE actual prototype mill, mine, to keep :)

Of course they are doing it as a publicity thing, but when someone gives you a gift like that, you smile for the camera.

Story on their web page, and even a video of them doing the "front door surprise" trick.

Me running the sawmill during our testing.

Best Xmas, EVER.

That is some gift. Seems you made quite the impression on the company in helping them develope a new product. May you both enjoy success.
