How many units at a time do you have on your rigs?

2GB of RAM will allow you to do 3 at a time without slowing the system down for general useage.
My GTX460 with 1GB RAM does 2 at a time with no problems. I ran 3 at a time for a while, but every now & then it would run low on video RAM when things got busy & the system would hit a wall & barely crawl along till some video RAM was freed. With 2GB of RAM it would have run 3 with no problems.

I have GTX 460 2GB, you can run 6 easily, I think there will be enough RAM on the video card to run 7. Use GPU-z to watch your RAM on the video card.

I have switched to running just one though. It seems to work faster overall.

For me on both the 460 & 560Ti, running 3 at a time gives the greatest throughput.
No matter how fast you can do 1 at a time, running 3 at a time will result in more being done per hour than just running one. It's slightly better than just running 2 at a time, two is much better than 1.

If I remember right I switched to running just one because I also play games so I needed the card to run a wu and game client at the same time.

I have a GTX660SC/2Gb & a GTX460SE/1Gb running 3 tasks each with no problems, keeping 1 core free for GPU processing. As far as games, which are very simple, or watching DVDs I also suspend GPU processing via the Tools menu. When running 3 tasks temps are around under 68c for the 660SC and under 60c for the 460SE, GPU usage is at 99%. Always had problems running Cuda and playing games or watching DVDs at the same time.

While the GPU may be capable of holding a number of tasks in memory it will have a sweet spot in terms of performance, below which the processors aren't being fully used, and above which they are doing too much task swapping. You need to run a few WU through at each number and monitor their completion times, then work out the effective throughput in terms of WU per hour.

I did this some time ago on my 460, and while I could get four into the GPU memory the performance fell off so quickly above two it just wasn't worth it so I settled on two as being the optimum. From memory the execute times were something like 19mins for 1 task, 20mins for two, and 40mins for three tasks, which gave me three per hour, six per hour and three per hour respectively (I went no further as it was obvious that I'd hit a limit)

Same here, If they'd been png files I'd think it was an old browser incompatibility problem, in any case I agree.

How do you configure this?

I also have a geforce gtx 660ti - 2G GDDR5/192 bit RAM and can only run 1 seti unit at a time .I want to know how to set set it up to run more , I don't have lunatic and we can't download it now .

It's a simple change to an XML file, you'll get a detailed response from the pros here; and I do not believe you need a Lunatics build to configure this.

While the change is easy, the file doesnt exist if you are running the stock apps...
As was said, you dont need to use the Lunatics optimized apps, but you need to use the anonimous plattaform which implies the creation of the whole app_info file and to loose the automatic upgrades of the stock apps... all this without a helper installer might be a serious burden for non advanced users...

Or you could use the new BOINC 7.0.40-42 and new app_config.xml, and run multiple tasks without losing automatic updating.

I used the Lunatics installer. That created app_info.xml file that I edit to run the number of wu I want.
