I have about 4 pages of validation pending tasks that were completed and reported as far back as September and as recent as October. My question is, will these ever be validated or is this some error? Thanks ! |

You have to wait for your wingmen to complete before validation can take place. On the longest standing your wingmen aren't due to report back for a few more days. (Your "validation pending" queue only has about 20 tasks in it - these are the ones waiting for validation. Your "Validated" list has over 90 listed, these are completed, validated and credit has been awarded, in a few hours time these will vanish from display.) I only looked at your oldest pending. You are paired with Slavac and he is very ill. There is a chance, that it will time out and be resent to a third cruncher. Pluto will always be a planet to me. Seti Ambassador Not to late to order an Anni Shirt |

Sorry, I cant remember where I am seeing dates, but looking again I see less.... However, you mean I am paired up with someone when completing tasks? That is new to me.. can you explain further? phO·kaz [foh-kuh s] noun, plural fo·cus·es, fo·ci , verb, fo·cused, fo·cus·ing or fo·cussed, fo·cus·sing. |

Initially tasks are replicated twice, you get one and someone else gets the other (your wingman). When both of you have crunched the tasks and reported them, the results are compared to one another and if they pass validation, credit is granted and the results go into the database. State: All (151) · In progress (58) · Validation pending (16) · Validation inconclusive (0) · Valid (77) · Invalid (0) · Error (0) In progress: You have them on your computer (or they are ghosts if not). Validation Pending: Waiting for your wingman to complete, or waiting for the validator to get to them. Under normal circumstances, it takes the validator a few seconds to get to completed tasks. Validation inconclusive: Your wingman and you disagree. It is being sent to a third computer to see which one is correct. It is possible to have the third one match both sufficiently well that all three get credit. Invalid: Your computer was deemed to have reported an incorrect result. Error: Your computer generated a run time error while working on the task. BOINC WIKI |

I have over 7,000 under Valid so will be interesting to see how many will disappear ... from my side, hopefully all |

The backlog of Valid tasks from the long outage is taking some time to work through. The last of mine only got purged yesterday. |

Validation inconclusive: Your wingman and you disagree. It is being sent to a third computer to see which one is correct. It is possible to have the third one match both sufficiently well that all three get credit. To further complicate matters, the third user can also come up with an incompatible result, or an error, or time out, and it has to be sent to a fourth. Normally, units have a maximum of 5 real errors (timeouts don't count for this purpose) before they are marked as bad and no one gets credit. I have recently had units going back to early September still on my inconclusive list that had gone out to as many as 7 different hosts for one reason or another. The limit on retries before a work unit is declared dead is ten, which equates to a lot of bad luck and a very long wait.... Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

From a workunit's page: max # of error/total/success tasks 5, 10, 5 I guess we're both right, in our own ways. After Validation, there's Assimilation, then file Deletion, after which the 24 hour delay before the database records are Purged starts. Because the Assimilators are running behind, there's more time between Validation and Purge. As a rough guess, maybe an extra 18 hours. Joe |

Hello, I am wondering why my stats show only the latest crunching units and not those that I have done since october 2011. The TAsks only go back to mid december. My Credits Total show 60,435 Cobblestones but tasks show only 16 Units. Where are all the others gone? PS : I did not compute for a while in december |

Hello, Once the workunits have had their tasks validated and assimilated into the science database, they are then purged from the Boinc database 24 hours later, the Project doesn't have enough storage space, RAM etc to show the over 1 Billion workunits completed so far, Claggy |
