Have you checked the amount of memory in BIOS / UEFI ? Does it show 24 GB or also 16 GB? If less then 24 GB is shown, a BIOS / UEFI update might be needed to properly discover the amount of memory that's plugged onto the motherboard
If 24 GB is seen in the BIOS / UEFI, then perhaps a solution can be found here:

From Microsoft
Version Limit on X86 Limit on X64
Windows 8 Enterprise 4 GB 512 GB
Windows 8 Professional 4 GB 512 GB
Windows 8 4 GB 128 GB
From Piriform Speccy
RAM
24.0 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 801MHz (9-9-9-24)
So utilities like Piriform Speccy and cpuz all show 24gb of memory yet win8 pro shows only 16gb of memory. And it is triple cjannel yet these show dual channel.
I guess I will take out the memory and reseat them and do a memtest 86 on them.

On older Asus boards you sometimes have to set the Memory Remap Feature to [Enable] to enable a 64 bit OS to see all of the memory.

I will look for Memory Remap Feature
I reset the bios and the bios sees 16gb and the os while cpuz and piriform speccy see 24gb.
edit I could not find Memory Remap Feature or anything related to 64 bit os.
I will flash the bios although I have the updated bios already and asus does not have any bios utilities that work with win8 I will download the latest bios and flash the bios through the bios itself.
edit I flashed the bios 1408 which is the latest for my P6T and ASUS does not have a bios for win8 pro only up to win7 ultimate. So I doubt that ASUS will add a win8 bios for the P6T board.

I guess Windows has installed the default drivers for the MB/chipset and probably thats why it doesnt see the 3rd channel (and the memory attached to it)...
May be you need to use the MB install CD to load the correct drivers but, as probably there is nothing in it for Win8, the best option is to see if there is an upgraded set of drivers for your MB for the new version of Windows...
