I have a couple of hosts that randomly fails to launch BOINC at startup. Sometimes it starts, sometimes it doesn't. No idea why. Any thoughts?

It's always the same two hosts, they are running Windows 7 Professional and the service is properly installed.

When I manually start BOINC the first time after such an incident User Account Control asks for permission to procede.

there are many things that can cause this.

but if this is an old install or a badly written new install the files may be weak.

if that is the case, uninstalling wiping the boinc directory and re-installing

may be the easiest way to fix.

try that first this fails list hardware and post agin.

Obviously I'm thinking about reinstalling BOINC, but I'd like to understand the root cause to prevent it from hapening again. I have four identical hosts, two of them have this problem for some reason.

And I have no idea what "weak files" may be.
