During the recent outage the machines I run BOINC/SETI@Home on crunched their 1,000,000th Cobblestone (or whatever they want to be called) In honour of this and as a merry Christmas to the guys I made a small donation. It's not much, but it's something. And I've just noticed; I've been running SETI@Home in some form or another on a varying number of Macs for 13 years, today! Even more reason for celebration! So my hat's off and I raise a glass (well, mug of coffee, it's early) to the team; Dr. David P. Anderson, Dan Werthimer, Dr. Eric Korpela, Andrew Siemion, Jeff Cobb and by no means least the tireless Matt Lebofsky who seems to do most of the heavy lifting! ~W |

Grats. If it wasn't for the outage I would have been hitting that mark around New Years. "Life is just nature's way of keeping meat fresh." - The Doctor |

Well done Woodgie! Fly the flag my man! The extra kit with your existing 9 comp farm is gonna push the leccy bill up a bit :-)) It'd be wrong to not be concerned as all bar 1 they're at work; wouldn't it? :) Truth is, they're all machines that are on for other reasons and SETI@Home is merely a thing they do when they're bored. ~W |

I wanted to hit the first Mill on the day the World Ended. It looks like I'm going to miss it by a few thousand though. That's all right, I've decided it's even more intriguing to claim I hit a Mill the day after the World Ended... Now that I've hit a Mill in 10 weeks, I'll have to investigate reclaiming my old account from the early days. I'm positive it's my old account, but, remembering my e-mail address & password from 13 years ago? Ha Ha Ha.... |

There's a small chance I can break 1 million by the end of the year but it looks more likely I'll do it Jan 2nd. Unless I get an unflux of wingmen finishing and validating a fair chunk of my units that are waiting for them. That could put me over before the 1st. Passed 1,000,000 (insert pinky finger into corner of mouth) before 0 zulu. It took me about 7 years to reach 200,000 and less than 7 months for the next 800,000. Next short term goal, have a credit world position in seti that's better than 25,000 by the end of the month and 20,000 by tax day. "Life is just nature's way of keeping meat fresh." - The Doctor |
