Take Five was composed, in 1959, by the quartets saxophonist Paul desmond, who died five years ago. Unusually for a Jazz piece it got into the top 25 on the American billboard and the top 10 in the UK charts.

He left his future royalties to the American Red Cross, it is still such a popular piece it brings in $100k/year.

Yes, another great musician has passed on.

I have "Time Out" on both vinyl and CD, along with several others, including his last disc, "Indian Summer". Lots of listening pleasure, soon to be loaded into my iPod.
