The post-it was a delightful holiday surprise from a dear seti-friend and former hotel guest. The dime is to help you with size. What is the wooden gadget called and what is its primary use?

Julie is correct. It is a honey dripper. Sorry it was so easy.

P.M. going out now.

If its marble then I'd go for a "real" pastry rolling pin.

I have seen similar (but less fancy) hunks of wood used to take lids off of old fashioned metal pots over a fire. The kind of lid with a wire loop handle. As for the name, it should be "stick for taking hot lids off of pots", but marketing probably gave it some other name.

Close enough Bill take it away.

It is called a "Oven Claw".

The Oven Claw was invented by a former high-tech president, Bill Leikam. He invented this new kitchen gadget in December of 2008, after watching his niece pull a hot oven rack with a wooden gizmo. He improved the design and out came the Oven Claw.

If it hadn't been answered already, I would have said a stick of hot melt glue.

Invented in 2008? Really? They taught us to carve our own back in boy scout camp in 1962.

Anyway, this used to be essential in everybody's kitchen, and is still essential in some.

Everybody was close, but J. Mercer hit it directly. Over to you J.

The last few have gone very quickly. Have we actually exhausted the inventory of obscure kitchen tools?
