No, it is for making wine. It is a wine press. First you crush the grapes, then you put them in that barrel thingie and turn the wheel. A middle panel is lowered with each turn, forcing juice out of the crushed grapes. (My family makes wine...) |

Looks like a wine press to me to. My family does not make wine, but I drink it. So I will take a less likely but possible route. This may be whey off, but there is the possibility that it's a cheese press. |

p.s. John did indeed win the last round. Belated pm sent. The other item it grates is walnuts! Actually, I think it can also be used to press olives to make olive oil. I think it is a very old design. It makes me wonder if our species discovered how to make olive oil or wine first... |
