Hi.
Is there a certain amount of money you need to get a particularly problematic piece of equipment swapped out? Knowing how much it costs may I think help people contribute to get it replaced.

If you pop into the "number crunching" section of the forum you will find, at the very top, a thread from the GPUUG who co-ordinate the donation of equipment and money for eqquipment.

It's going to be close. I have 900k units now, and if things work just right, I "might" hit 1 Million before the end of the year. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you guys, but in the meantime, I'm doing einstein@home units.

I see "SETI@home scheduler is down until further notice" but some posts in here say that it's working. Doesn't seem to be working, just making sure this is expected.
Thanks!

Colin; it's been back up for several days. Check the server status page and the network traffic graphs for more reliable and up-to-date information.

Looks like the servers are up but it keeps telling me there's no tasks available at this time for this project. So it's still messed up.

Ivan, thanks for the quick response. I have several servers and desktop computers that all keep saying "communication deferred" when I try to let SETI run. Other projects work fine. Any suggestions? Really don't want to delay the discovery any further ;)

Oh, and FWIW, all of my machines show the "Down until further notice message" as latest, not the "it's back up" one.

My systems still have the "schedular down" message as the "latest news" as well. Might want to consider updating that.

The longer people keep posting in this thread, the longer it'll stay as the lastest news, Strangely enough.

Tell me about it, I've been looking for the Higgs boson for 11 years; we've found one but now our competitors reckon they have two...

One problem can be stale information in your DNS cache, if you haven't rebooted for a while (but if they are Windows machines you did re-boot after last Tuesday's security patches, right? :-) On Windows, stop BOINC and do
> ipconfig /flushdns

On Linux it can vary; my Scientific Linux machines use
$ /etc/init.d/nscd restart

Another problem (that I had just yesterday) is if you are using a HTTP proxy and the owner of the proxy server has decided not to tolerate your traffic any more. ...in which case find a new proxy or try without (Tools -> Options -> HTTP Proxy).

The "Communications deferred" message in the Projects tab can hide a multitude of sins; what messages do you see in the Event log window when you try to communicate?

Oh, and FWIW, all of my machines show the "Down until further notice message" as latest, not the "it's back up" one.

Colin

I don't think there was a "Back up again" message this time around.

The ipconfig /flushdns command didn't work. Still "down until further notice". I do get new tasks to crunch, though.
