So that takes care of my 'wingman' --- I have 4 computers running SETI and of the 4 three have new work. The fourth has had 100 work units to report and for whatever reason it seems like I done been forgotten about. I'm patiently waiting, but curious why only one of the four is being ignored?

My Seti has just got one more downloaded WU and has started running it, plus it was in middle of downloading a second WU which it was 46% through when it stopped. I've just manually restarted that one downloading again and it's finally finished ready to start. Both were GPU work units.

Thanks Mr A.L.Ien for what we receive.

I got Einstein@home working the CPU and when the Boinc screensaver comes on it's interesting the graphical representation of the sky (starfield)it shows has a dish aerial floating about in the sky. Wonder if that's Mr A.L.Ien going home.

donald
thanks for standing up for those of us with old cruddy outdated equipment. we love SETI and are happy that our meager contributions are appreciated!

I know you're having issues, but what will happen to my work that has been processed and is sitting on my three computers waiting to sent to SETI? I'm new here so be kind. Thank you ...

Typical answer for the various BOINC projects I participate in: If you can report it before any replacements for those workunits get reported, you still get credit. So, keep trying.

However, I suspect that I've seen BOINC discard workunits if they stay on the computer for a full month after they finish, so don't be surprised if this happens.

I've been crunching since 2000 and lately have noticed that the servers keeps going down more frequently. Instead of leaving the seti project, I've joined another boinc project so my computers doesn't crunch "idle time".
When the seti servers seem to be back online, i usually set my other boinc projects not to recieve any more work.

Good luck with fixing your servers as we all will be waiting patiently. :-)

If you'd prefer to do this more automatically, just set the resource share of those other projects to zero. The, BOINC will request workunits from them only when it is unable to get any from a project with a non-zero resource share.

I'm not sure just what BOINC does if more than one project has a resource share of zero; if you see any resulting problems, you may prefer to set them to very low values, but not zero.

any news about scheduler?

The fact that you were able to post that question here proves that everything is back up and running. Now it's just a matter of an unusually long recovery period from an unusually long outage.

Everything? It looks to me more like part of the server system is working, but another part still has problems.

Message 1311999 - Posted: 7 Dec 2012, 0:34:50 UTC - in response to Message 1311809.

I now have errors in my results, all of which are down to two periods of server downtime.

Because these appear as errors, I take it that my machine has been plodding away for no good reason.

Well, SETI Bêta is up and running,
. UTC= 17:04

Haven't seen much (no) work in the last week, so no errors ;-)

Well you could make a SETI Bêta account, unless you have one already, Less ??1
They're always 'short on testing', too.

I connected to SETI Beta and got an error message about a missing security certificate for them. Could this be fixed before I connect there again?

Doubt it, it hasn't been fixed in the last couple years. Suggest you use the Seti Beta forums for a better response.

All good, it all came back later that day and only 10 jobs had expired on one box, so no biggy in the scheme of things .. However one box refuses to start again so I see a new linux for it in the morning and a new boinc and try again.

Dear WWUUD,

While I know virtually nothing about the technical aspects of your proposal, it sounds not only feasible, but highly recommendable to me! While the Common Man perhaps knows nothing of SETI, SETI@HOME or search for Etxtra-Terrestrial Intelligence in general, it seems to me that any bandwidth available 'out there' should be used for SOMETHING useful, so why not SETI?!?!

I am a Musician - Actor - Writer of SF - Educator and have just finished the publication process of my first collection of Science Fiction Short Stories called 'Ancient Tales from the Distant Future' on www.amazon.com which - I am convinced - is very closely tied to SETI and all things related to Cosmos, this Universe and the future of our Planet. The finding, locating and possible communication (even if not in 'real-time') will most likely completely change the 'fate', actions and general outcome of our race and planet.

So, in perspective, if added necessary bandwidth from a Cloud Server or anywhere else COULD be found, it MAY be an important, if not DETERMINING factor in the outcome of our Species!!!

I use a Mac Book Pro for my SETI@HOME and I know Macintosh and Apple have an iCloud or similar system. I will do my part in finding out more about this, contact my IT friends and hopefully get in touch with you in the near future. Feel free to contact me here or by my E-mail, nmustelin@yahoo.com OR on FaceBook where my full name, Nicholas Mustelin, is accompanied by the profile photo of Master Yoda, the little green Jedi Master from Star Wars, the movie [sextology or trilogy x 2] I hope you have watched......

Sincerely, kindly, enthusiastically and singularly yours,

The distribution of the WU restarted well since the last week.
Did you click the button "Update" in tabs "Projects" of your BOINC Manager ?
Already begin with this manipulation. Everything should work.
