What's a 'wingman'? Every task your computer is working on is also being done by at least one other. The owner of that computer is your wingman. (Yes, it's a somewhat un-PC term, and some people here say wingperson or just wingy. Wingman just flows off the tongue (and keyboard) better, though. And, while I've never seen a statistical breakdown, I'd bet that the vast majority of users are male, so wingman is accurate more often than not.) ____________ David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri.

any news about scheduler? The fact that you were able to post that question here proves that everything is back up and running. Now it's just a matter of an unusually long recovery period from an unusually long outage. ____________ David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri.

Me the same last 4 task are running and what is done Good morning here, afternoon there, from Chicago. We are expecting our first significant snow of the season this Sunday night into Monday morning, which is rather late for it to occur. We've had some freezing cold too, but not a lot. Your other 63 tasks will be resolved when you finally make contact with the scheduler. Either they will be re-sent as lost tasks or they will be timed out for you and reassigned to someone else. ____________ David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri.

My eight boxes here ran out of work last week much to my surprise. Unless you're trying to save electricity, turn on all of them but set all but one to no new tasks. That way they can at least keep trying to report what they've done. In fact, once they've reported, you can turn them off again if you want. Once the one gets some work, let another ask for some. Repeat until they all get some. ____________ David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri.

It's not just Seti falling over from time to time.

When my Seti work units run dry, I allow malariacontrol.net to get new tasks, with a 'resource share' of "10" (Seti is set to "1000"). I click "No new tasks" for malariacontrol.net once Seti work units return. I like to think of it my socially conscious alternative, for when I can't up my Seti stats. The one thing I don't like about malariacontrol.net is the short deadlines.

I now have errors in my results, all of which are down to two periods of server downtime. Well, SETI Bêta is up and running, . UTC= 17:04 Haven't seen much (no) work in the last week, so no errors ;-) Well you could make a SETI Bêta account, unless you have one already, Less ??1 They're always 'short on testing', too. ____________ Knight Who Says Ni N!, OUT numbered.................

So that takes care of my 'wingman' --- I have 4 computers running SETI and of the 4 three have new work. The fourth has had 100 work units to report and for whatever reason it seems like I done been forgotten about. I'm patiently waiting, but curious why only one of the four is being ignored?

My Seti has just got one more downloaded WU and has started running it, plus it was in middle of downloading a second WU which it was 46% through when it stopped. I've just manually restarted that one downloading again and it's finally finished ready to start. Both were GPU work units.

Thankfully this now seems to have cleared :-)

All the work units I had were due next year anyway :D

I know you're having issues, but what will happen to my work that has been processed and is sitting on my three computers waiting to sent to SETI? I'm new here so be kind. Thank you ... Typical answer for the various BOINC projects I participate in: If you can report it before any replacements for those workunits get reported, you still get credit. So, keep trying. However, I suspect that I've seen BOINC discard workunits if they stay on the computer for a full month after they finish, so don't be surprised if this happens.

I've been crunching since 2000 and lately have noticed that the servers keeps going down more frequently. Instead of leaving the seti project, I've joined another boinc project so my computers doesn't crunch "idle time". If you'd prefer to do this more automatically, just set the resource share of those other projects to zero. The, BOINC will request workunits from them only when it is unable to get any from a project with a non-zero resource share. I'm not sure just what BOINC does if more than one project has a resource share of zero; if you see any resulting problems, you may prefer to set them to very low values, but not zero.

any news about scheduler? Everything? It looks to me more like part of the server system is working, but another part still has problems.

I now have errors in my results, all of which are down to two periods of server downtime. I connected to SETI Beta and got an error message about a missing security certificate for them. Could this be fixed before I connect there again?

I now have errors in my results, all of which are down to two periods of server downtime. Doubt it, it hasn't been fixed in the last couple years. Suggest you use the Seti Beta forums for a better response. ____________
