I think that a full steerable array like ALMA could be more useful. But again, it is not easy to get time on an astronomical telescope, like the 64 meter Sardinia antenna in Italy, which is of the configurable type.

I'm relatively new to this project - I've really only had my desktop crunch for 1 month or less. Sometime in between, work intensified or something came up so, I was unable to contribute to the project. Now that I'm much more efficient and alive, with a better desktop and plenty of resources, I've once again joined the effort in the search for E.T.! |

Go to the Number Crunching forum, where there is a looooong discussion of the various problems with the servers.

You don't have to give up on Seti, son.
If you wish, pick an alternate project, give it a zero percent workshare, and Boinc will do that project until Seti comes back up.
I have one computer doing Einstein right now.
The other 8 are just waiting for Seti to come back up and resume crunching.
Hmmm, I've got Orbit@home as an alternate project
