How do i fix this? I'm new to ATI crunching. Running SetiPerformance_32_64_1_4__OpenCL_ATI_NV_Added-by-BilBg completes successfully. Your appinfo has some errors. First of all the copy tag is missing in the r390 section. Evenso ffa_block, ffa_block_fetch and unroll are astropulse params not MB one so beeing ignored. <app> <name>setiathome_enhanced</name> </app> <file_info> <name>MB7_win_x86_SSE3_OpenCL_ATi_HD5_r390.exe</name> <executable/> </file_info> <file_info> <name>MultiBeam_Kernels_r390.cl</name> <executable/> </file_info> <app_version> <app_name>setiathome_enhanced</app_name> <version_num>610</version_num> <platform>windows_intelx86</platform> <avg_ncpus>0.05</avg_ncpus> <max_ncpus>0.05</max_ncpus> <plan_class>ati13ati</plan_class> <cmdline>-period_iterations_num 20 -instances_per_device 3 -no_cpu_lock</cmdline> <file_ref> <file_name>MB7_win_x86_SSE3_OpenCL_ATi_HD5_r390.exe</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> <file_ref> <file_name>MultiBeam_Kernels_r390.cl</file_name> <copy_file/> </file_ref> <coproc> <type>ATI</type> <count>0.33</count> </coproc> </app_version> With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

checked for virus then copied entire contents of file to boinc directory over writing previous files multibeam seems to work let you know when i get astropulse seems to install some of Lunatics optimized clients. suggest uninstall boinc delete boinc directory re-install copy all files and folder's to boinc over writing previous files then try again. |

checked error, looks to stderr or standard error followed by memory location. this could be caused by a lot of things but a corrupted file causing a stack overflow seems likely any way a broken file is likely and a clean reload should fix it.good luck happy holidays! |

farther investigation indicates that this file includes an alph or bata for luatics x41g installer and the fft library is in that folder the reload as described earlier will likely work though copying the x41g file into the boinc directory may be enough. |

When I try to run two MBs at a time on my 6850 with BOINC .36 I get the same thing I did with the unsupported 3650 in the other machine. With the 6850 it works fine with a couple of files then starts starting & stopping similar to this http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=69924; 22-Nov-2012 18:23:52 [SETI@home] Restarting task 25au12ad.2747.255803.140733193388043.10.101_1 using setiathome_enhanced version 610 (ati13ati) in slot 0 22-Nov-2012 18:23:52 [SETI@home] Starting task 25au12ad.2747.255803.140733193388043.10.137_0 using setiathome_enhanced version 610 (ati13ati) in slot 4 22-Nov-2012 18:27:54 [SETI@home] Computation for task 25au12ad.2747.255803.140733193388043.10.101_1 finished 22-Nov-2012 18:27:54 [SETI@home] Starting task 25au12ac.25310.21744.140733193388048.10.147_1 using setiathome_enhanced version 610 (ati13ati) in slot 0 22-Nov-2012 18:30:58 [SETI@home] Computation for task 25au12ad.2747.255803.140733193388043.10.137_0 finished 22-Nov-2012 18:30:58 [SETI@home] Starting task 25au12ac.25310.21744.140733193388048.10.173_1 using setiathome_enhanced version 610 (ati13ati) in slot 4 22-Nov-2012 18:31:31 [SETI@home] Task 25au12ac.25310.21744.140733193388048.10.173_1 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 22-Nov-2012 18:31:31 [SETI@home] If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 22-Nov-2012 18:31:31 [SETI@home] Starting task 23jn11af.28201.9887.140733193388044.10.199_2 using setiathome_enhanced version 610 (ati13ati) in slot 5 22-Nov-2012 18:32:01 [SETI@home] Task 23jn11af.28201.9887.140733193388044.10.199_2 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 22-Nov-2012 18:32:01 [SETI@home] If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 22-Nov-2012 18:32:01 [SETI@home] Restarting task 25au12ac.25310.21744.140733193388048.10.173_1 using setiathome_enhanced version 610 (ati13ati) in slot 4 22-Nov-2012 18:32:34 [SETI@home] Task 25au12ac.25310.21744.140733193388048.10.173_1 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 22-Nov-2012 18:32:34 [SETI@home] If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 22-Nov-2012 18:32:34 [SETI@home] Restarting task 23jn11af.28201.9887.140733193388044.10.199_2 using setiathome_enhanced version 610 (ati13ati) in slot 5 22-Nov-2012 18:33:05 [SETI@home] Task 23jn11af.28201.9887.140733193388044.10.199_2 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 22-Nov-2012 18:33:05 [SETI@home] If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 22-Nov-2012 18:33:05 [SETI@home] Restarting task 25au12ac.25310.21744.140733193388048.10.173_1 using setiathome_enhanced version 610 (ati13ati) in slot 4 22-Nov-2012 18:33:38 [SETI@home] Task 25au12ac.25310.21744.140733193388048.10.173_1 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 22-Nov-2012 18:33:38 [SETI@home] If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 22-Nov-2012 18:33:38 [SETI@home] Restarting task 23jn11af.28201.9887.140733193388044.10.199_2 using setiathome_enhanced version 610 (ati13ati) in slot 5 22-Nov-2012 18:34:00 [---] Exit requested by user... I've tried it a couple of times with the same results. I haven't tried it with BOINC .28, it might work with that version. It's not a big deal, when it does work right, it runs the 6850 at 95+% GPU load and makes the fan scream. My theory is the only time advantage you see is being caused by the card running flat out. So, I'm probably not going to use it anyway. I fear your CPU is to weak to feed 2 GPUs. Specially if you want to run 2 instances on the 6850. My son has the same card and it runs perfect on it. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

I fear your CPU is to weak to feed 2 GPUs. The same Machine ran two instances of AstroPulse on the 6850 for about a day with the NV8800 also going full speed. The only problem was the added heat and noise. It was so bad I placed a fan in front of the machine to slow down the GPU fan. I tried backing off the unroll setting to slow it down and then it threw the notorious 'Computation Error'. I just happened to be watching when the Error was thrown. It completed two AP tasks at almost the same time and one threw the Error where the other didn't, this one http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=2719389321 After that I reset the unroll to 10, and finished the APs one at a time. You can see the faster times. If it can feed 2 AstroPulses and the NV8800, it should be fine with the MBs, shouldn't it? |

I fear your CPU is to weak to feed 2 GPUs. No, ATI drivers using more CPU cycles. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

I fear your CPU is to weak to feed 2 GPUs. So you're saying running 2 MBs on my 6850 at the same time uses more CPU cycles than running 2 APs at the same time? Have you tried it with BOINC 7.0.36 on XPsp3? I ran 2 AP instances on the other machine, with the 4670, via a bug, until I updated to BOINC.36, then I got the same error I'm getting with the 6850 on this machine with .36. |

It has nothing to do with the boinc version you are running. Thats app related. Believe me i`m testing this apps before release. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

recommend temp monitoring software i use tthrottle but there are several others. tthrottle let's me set rule's to throttle gpu and cpu separately so they slow down when they get to hot. you should still keep a eye on it if the throttle program crashes but seti does not it can still get to hot. |

I fear your CPU is to weak to feed 2 GPUs. The hd6850 has 2 gpus but for all intents and purposes they are treated as 1. Are you running 2 cards or 2 instances on 1 card? If you have 2 cards upgrading to a 4 basic 4 core cpu and a 2 slot pci express motherboard can be done for less than $150, much less IF used ask around or even post here someone maybe willing to give you what you need out of their junk box. If you are running two instances on 1 card this is unnecessary it will run faster with just 1. If you can be more specific with what hardware you have it will be much easier to help good luck DANCWE42. |

I fear your CPU is to weak to feed 2 GPUs. It's a 2008 Quadcore XEON MacPro that is configured to leave 2 cores free while running BOINC in XP. It also has 6 GB ram but XP only sees 2 GB. I don't think there is a problem feeding the AMD6850 & NV8800. You can encode HD h264 video in realtime, while running Starry Night Pro & JHelioviewer at the same time. All my videos seen here were made using this machine http://www.youtube.com/user/TBar1984?feature=mhee I need to make another video, but the 2012 thing seems rather boring at this point. This is it in XP http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=6797524 this machine is also seen in OSX http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=6796479 . Look at the tasks completed around 17-21 Nov. That's when I was running 2 AP instances on the 6850 while the 8800 was spitting out shorty MBs. I think the problem is elsewhere... I am working on another project though. I thought I ruined a DP43TF Intel board back in 2008, but now think I can fix it. Back then I just ordered another board, a 2-16x PCIe P45T-A board, and built the machine seen here http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=6796475 I'm going to be building a similar machine with the DP43 and a Dualcore 3060 XEON I found on eBay. I have everything I need except a SETI 'certified' video card. I'm open to donations on that project, it only has a single 16x PCIe slot :) |

Whoa, check it out. I found that downgrading to BOINC 7.0.28 in XP is very easy. Now I can run 2 instances of Multibeam on my AMD 6850. The results are 'inconclusive' though. One instance will finish in 3:50 at 85-90% load whereas 2 instances will finish in 6:20 at 99% load. All this while my NV8800 finishes 1 instance in 3:54 at 95% load. The 6850 fan isn't as loud with the Multibeams as it was with the AstroPulses, so, it's bearable. Send the shorties.... Now if I could just get the Multibeams to work on the other machine with the ATI 4670. I know it's not supposed to work, but, I'm not getting the errors that other people got. I'm getting....nothing really. The time elapsed advances but no progress is made and GPU-Z says the card is doing nothing. I gave up on running Multibeam on the 4670. I tried all the different apps, configurations, and whatnot. All I get is nothing, but, one pegged cpu core indicating it's trying to start but hangs after the above text in the stderr.txt file. No errors anywhere, just a hang. I guess that machine will have to wait for more AP tasks. I was looking for a ZALMAN VNF100 for my HD3650 when I got the 4670. Considering the cost of the VNF100, the 4670 was very, very cheap at that time. So, this card will run APs but not MBs http://www.hisdigital.com/un/product2-478.shtml In the process of working on the other machine, I found I had the wrong MB app on the 6850. I should have had this app MB6_win_x86_SSE3_OpenCL_ATi_HD5_r390.exe The correct app works much better, the time on a single shorty went from 3:45 to around 3:04 using the same load percentage. I'd still rather be working Astropulses... Oh, I found a solution to the really bad estimated times I had with the MB app. Even after many runs the estimates were way off, over 4 hours for a shorty and 15-19 hours for a 13-22 minute task. If you add a FLOPS entry, it brings the estimates more in line with the 6850 times; <app_name>setiathome_enhanced</app_name> <version_num>610</version_num> <platform>windows_intelx86</platform> <avg_ncpus>0.07</avg_ncpus> <max_ncpus>0.1</max_ncpus> <plan_class>ati13ati</plan_class> <flops>175000000000</flops> <cmdline>-period_iterations_num 20 -instances_per_device 1</cmdline> It's not exact, but much better than before. |
