I`m using MSI Afterburner. OK Thanks for the info, almost forgot that XP still exists. But anyway Afterburner is a program, so normally that should only start at login. TThrottle Control your temperatures. BoincTasks The best way to view BOINC. Anza Borrego Desert hiking. |

Is it possible to flash required fan settings directly in GPU own BIOS memory? Does this link help? http://www.nvidia.ru/object/nvidia_system_tools_6.02_ru.html (or is that the link you tried already?) This should give you the slider you are looking for in the NV Control Panel Edit: I know you said you probably already fixed the problem, but this is a cool tool for you to play around with:) |

I`m using MSI Afterburner. I'm pretty sure both EVGA and MSI tools are based on RivaTuner and made by the same guy. |

Yes, this link works. Looks like Russian NV site keeps old stuff instead of USA one.. SETI apps news We're not gonna fight them. We're gonna transcend them. |

The latest version is there: http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvidia-system-tools-6.08-driver.html Claggy |

Nothing gets by Claggy:) I didn't link to the new version because Raistmer is using old drivers on an even older card. Should have mentioned it though, so thanx! You also gave me the idea to look at the dates of the driver a bit closer and I'm pretty sure this version should work without any trouble too: http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvidia_system_tools_6.06.html |

I`m using MSI Afterburner. Thanks, as expected its works in the same way of EGVA Precision, only after log. Anyone know any program that allow to control the GPU fan and runs as a service? ![]() |

Anyone know any program that allow to control the GPU fan and runs as a service? Maybe the NVIDIA Tools (links) above. I can't check myself because the fan feature is greyed out (doesn't work) on my laptop... |

Anyone know any program that allow to control the GPU fan and runs as a service? Ive used the nvidia tools and when you set it to apply the setting on system boot it adds a startup task that (when works) is launched after a user login... Ive stopped using it a long time ago, first because it was deprecated, but also because it was not stable and most of the times after a reboot the settings went to the deffault of just they were silently not applied... I had no luck trying to persist the fan speed (even set as a manual fixed speed) after a reboot or a restart without launching Afterburner to reapply the setting... ![]() |

LOL. Just ask the kitties..... XP is quite alive and well on the kitty crunching farm. 8 out of 9 rigs agree. My body may be here, but my mind is in a galaxy far, far away. Have made friends here. Most were cats. ![]() |

Yes, it's doable. I did it for my Asus Nvidia 8800 GTS 640MB card. I used Rivatuner to test the settings for the fan, (Main/Target Adapter/Low-level system tweaks/Fan) and used NiBiTor (nvidia bios editor) to modify the bios, before burned it back. I found these on th web: (these are card specific) http://epg.web.elte.hu/ADT7473-D.PDF http://epg.web.elte.hu/Fan%20Duty%20cycle%20calculation.xls ![]() |

We need something more "generic" something that could work in a wide range of cards. Anything that could run as a service on Windows. Something like like the EVGA precison or MSI AFterburner fan controlthat runs as a service... Need to add that to the christmas wich lists. I belive not all are confortable to make any changes, at the BIOS level, on a >US$ 1000 GTX690 for example. ![]() |

"Never trust in Windows services when death is on the line" :D I'm more calm when i know my fans are "hardware" programmed, instead trusting on a win service. Of course i took the time to read about it a lot and borrowed a pci video card as backup plan :) and i saved the original bios too, so i could burn it back. The changes, the numbers i modified, are all testable under Rivatuner without burning anything, so no risk there. ![]() |

I could agree if i have 1 or 2 cards, but is dificult to do that if you have more than 15 GPUs with a mix of diferent models, people like me needs something more "generic" than a hardware solution. But something i´m with you, you could never trust in a windows service, but what other solution i could use? ![]() |

MSIAfterburner adds entry to auto-apply OC settings like this: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] "MSIAfterburner"="\"H:\\Programs.XP\\Tools\\Info\\MSI Afterburner\\MSIAfterburner.exe\" /s" (it starts, apply OC settings, exits) ? What will happen if you just copy the same to: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices ![]() ![]() |

If you don't mind the noise, there is a simple hardware solution. Just find the right adapter to plug the fan into a hard drive cable. As soon as you boot, the fan goes to 100% and stays there. I did this to the rear case fan on one of my machines using this adapter http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812189119 No more fooling around with speedfan... You might have trouble finding the right adapter, and it would be noisy :) |

Thats an ingenius "technical solution", realy like that i´m sure works, but to get access to the fan internal power conector you need to open the housing of the GPU in most of the boards, so you could void the warranty. Will try to do that in my "older" out of warranty boards. Thanks About noise, i belive this is not the problem, the fan is operating allready at 90% to keep the big GPUs cooler when crunching. ![]() |

tthrottle can be set to load at log in,i think it runs as a service never checked. |

the hardware solution does sound best will be implementing myself, software solutions depend on the software running correctly all the time and sometimes it does not. |
