The only "good" bit about the soaps are the closing themes.
At least this Christmas I won't be afflicted by my sister-in-law's addiction

As a strident female myself I must be one of the gullible. I was so thrilled to be able to catch up with Eastenders after leaving the UK. I can't get BBC iPlayer here but people upload the soaps to youtube so I can watch them on the same day as in the UK.

I also caught up with Casualty, another good one, and quite subversive in it's way.

What lowered the tone in the UK was thatcherism, changed the culture into the greedy mess that we now have.
