They should also keep their trawler fleets out of our North Sea waters, and stop plundering the fish ... It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues |

It seems that yet again, Spain is throwing childish tantrums over Gibraltar, which is a British overseas territory. Oh my yet another British drawn line on a map that no one likes. What a surprise. |

How can it be a British drawn line when the Spanish gave it up 300 years ago. The rights and torts that went with their agreement still exists. It;s the Spanish trying to draw lines that do not exist ... It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues |

British guns drew the line. Now you get to the realization cutting off a chunk leaves the rest pissed and mad and gives them a century or two to plot revenge. You should have given it back a long time ago or fought on until you took it all and not just a chunk. |

Ah more Brit colonial thinking. Gotta just love it. What's the Yankees real reason for being in Iraq & Afghanistan? Why are you looking to take down Iran? Gibraltar was 300 years ago, what's your excuse for today? |

Thanks Chris. Being a student of Military History, I don't live in the past, but we do owe those men & women a lot..... ..unfortunately, I feel the majority of the world has forgotten them. |

Not a problem. While our boys were fighting in Europe which was deadly enough, the USMC in the Pacific deserves all the plaudits we can muster. |

British guns drew the line Okay, British and Dutch guns ... You didn't want and EU then and still don't. You should have given it back a long time ago Philippines, Federated States of Micronesia, South Vietnam, ... Seems like we are forever cleaning up the messes created by colonialism. Argue about North Rock, Swains Island etc, insignificant little chunks of nothing in the middle of nowhere. Malvinas, or did you miss that one on purpose? I suggest you take a trip and stand in the middle of Grand Casemates Square and tell the Gibraltarians to give it back to the Spanish. I'll let St Bernards know you are coming. So I guess you are ready to have another colonial slaughter fest and sow another half dozen centuries of hate. You never should have taken it in the first place. Lease perhaps. At least you got that right in Honk Kong. |

Seems like we are forever cleaning up the messes created by colonialism. Really, so answer the question you were asked earlier.... What are you doing in Afghanistan? |

Seems like we are forever cleaning up the messes created by colonialism. Doing the best we can to help that nation ensure a group (Taliban) that gave aid and support to a bunch of murderers (Al Qaeda) does not regain a foothold. In case you hadn't heard, it has already been announced that the US will end combat operations there in 2014. I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ... |

Seems like we are forever cleaning up the messes created by colonialism. Hahahaha, love it. 2014 is not an answer....... ...tell me, who actually funded & armed the taliban in the 1st place? |

...tell me, who actually funded & armed the taliban in the 1st place? Incorrect. Go back to the 80's. NATO wasn't involved! BTW, Britain is spelt BRITAIN Edit: - Here's a hint.... "Although there isn't any evidence that the CIA directly supported the Taliban or Al Qaeda, some basis for military support of the Taliban was provided when, in the early 1980s, the CIA and the ISI (Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence agency) provided arms to Afghans resisting the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, and the ISI assisted the process of gathering radical Muslims from around the world to fight against the Soviets.[9] Osama Bin Laden was one of the key players in organizing training camps for the foreign Arab volunteers, although his organization, Maktab al-Khidamat, was exclusively Saudi funded. The U.S. poured funds and arms into Afghanistan, and "by 1987, 65,000 tons of U.S.-made weapons and ammunition a year were entering the war." |

Hmmn, I wonder if Spain & Portugal demand their colonial possessions back, how would the US fare with them being surrounded by Spanish/Portugese speaking countries on the American continent that don't like them? |

Hmmn, I wonder if Spain & Portugal demand their colonial possessions back, how would the US fare with them being surrounded by Spanish/Portugese speaking countries on the American continent that don't like them? Spain and Portugal did what the Bruts didn't. They gave them up a long time ago. Now the Bruts have given some up, but still claim a bunch. While the people in some are for the most part happy, it seems the Bruts have problems with people on their own islands. Wonder how that is going to work out when they have to give them up? Of course it was the Bruts that caused the need for this inalienable right of return that so has the mid-east screwed up. As for the USA, the problem will be when we find out France didn't have clear title to the land in Louisiana purchase. |
