Perhaps a little stupid question.

But does anyone know whether Windows has a built-in event log in order for me to keep a tab on things?

Right now I am on a Windows Ultimate 64 bits installation.

If such an event log was available, I could have a look at it to keep a track of re-starts at moments which were either unexpected or perhaps inappropriate.

Maybe a separate application for this is available for keeping a tab on such a thing as well?

Start->Administrative Tools->Event Viewer->Windows Logs.
